You have a fantastic understanding of the overall narrative structure of the Stormlight Archive!

The thing a really did not like tho was that "Blackthorn" from the spiritual realm becoming Retribution's champion. That felt very forced, a great example of a Diabolus Ex-Machina. I think it would be much better if Retribution used the Blackthorn in spiritual realm to train Moash, so he could become an even more powerful and relentless evil force.

Fantastic video. Thank you. Great detail on your thoughts on the ending.

While i did have issues with the book I think the ending plays out better than I thought it would half way through. I would have rather had certain parts of the story trimmed HEAVILY so that the “honor” story would have had more time to breathe. And I still thought Adolin was gonna be Honor in the end.

I still think there’s a chance that Adolin picks up Honor in the future… especially an Honor that has continued to grow more self aware

Some things didn't add up to me when I think about it. Odium had nothing to gain by giving Dalinar the chance to kill Gavlar so easily. To prove a point and demoralize Dalinar would really not advance his agenda at all. It would be much better for Odium to win the contest. The only thing that I can think of is that Odium was trying to trick Dalinar into attacking him directly, and as a representant of Honor that would free Odium to fight back directly.

I assumed it was a sign of Taravangian’s insecurity and desire to prove that he and Dalinar are not so different…

Also for Taravangian to get Dalinar to admit his way was the only way.

other two replies nail it, Teravangian is egotistical, and feels his ways are the best, and therefore only way. He needs Dalinar to agree with him, the same way he got Jasnah to admit she thinks like him.

@@FantasialoreHonestly I think people were very much expecting this book to be a true finale, especially for the political plot threads and some more character arcs, which it was never supposed to be. When book 6 comes out I expect the discourse on WaT to shift wildly

So in regards to the Night wasn't it started that cultivation changed it some to become the Nightwatcher
@Fantasialore
@Fantasialore 19 күн бұрын
The Sibling states that the Nightwatcher came from the Night, like the way that the Stormfather came from the Wind, and the Sibling from the Stone. Not quite sure what to make of that.. Edit to add: if you’re interested, I actually tried to pull together what I could of the Wind, Stone and Night here: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXTCmZiffqaMl8k

The dei killed it for. I was going to read these books to my kids... He could have been the tolkien of our generation if he didn't force in the modern identity politics/themes. I did not and will not finish wind and truth. I refunded my money to amazon after the same sex kissing scene.

I hope that someday you look back at this post and feel shame. I can't imagine getting this far into the cosmere with such lack of empathy and unwillingness to look inside and try to be a better person. It is kind of the main point of all of these books. I can even less imagine coming onto the youtube channel of a really positive and kind person to plop down a turd of a comment like this.

100% agree with everything in here! The only point I’m not sure on is holding two Shards = infinity x infinity. If that were the case, why would Retribution be described as “the most powerful being since Adolnasium”?
@Fantasialore
@Fantasialore 22 күн бұрын
Hm that’s fair. I think my overall point is that I’m not sure that holding multiple Shards necessarily increases your power- Harmony is an example of where it comes with drawbacks, isn’t it? But it’s a valid point.

good video, and i agree on the important points. however i believe that teravangian got stronger, because the 1. shards are not infinitely powerful and can definitely get stronger, 2. opposed to harmony, the shards honor and odium dont have opposing intents (yet) and 3. if retribution wasn't the strongest shard, the sunmakers gambit wouldnt really make sense, no? cause its "weaker players uniting against the strongest opponent". also honors self awareness avatar was not a young boy, they had no gender
@igorcamara1309
@igorcamara1309 22 күн бұрын
Yeah, you're right. I think when they talk about infinity, it's because it's too much. Power is 'infinity.' If the powers are truly infinite, Preservation wouldn't be weaker than Ruin because of human creation in Mistborn
@Fantasialore
@Fantasialore 22 күн бұрын
Yes, you’re both right. It does also say in the book that as Retribution revels in his new strength, he recognizes that the only person coming close to his power is Harmony - although those powers are misaligned. You’re also right on Honor’s gender! Good flags all around! Why do you think Rayse didn’t pick up the Shards he splintered?
@igorcamara1309
@igorcamara1309 22 күн бұрын
@Fantasialore Good question, I think Dominion would fit pretty well with Odium. I always thought it was weird that Odium didn’t take the power. Maybe Rayse knows something from the time of the Splintering. Maybe the reason for their agreement to stay away from other Shards is deeper than just avoiding intervention. Imagine if someone holding all the Shards would essentially become Adonalsium again, or something like that. So, holding too many Shards could be more complex than just opposing intents.
@mirimjam
@mirimjam 22 күн бұрын
@@Fantasialore i think rayse said that he didn't want to take the power of the other shards he killed out of fear they'd change him too much. rayse wanted to stay odium and not something else
@Baked_beans9
@Baked_beans9 18 күн бұрын
I think this has to do with A) level of investment. Preservation had more of himself in humans, and that slice of the infinite pie is still something ruin could exploit (that's how they beat it, burning away ruins physical investment on Scadrial) and B) Honor itself seems to be able to exert a unique level of influence over the other shards, to a degree that breaking an agreement made with Honor will essentially render a shard vulnerable for splintering no matter what, unlike shards breaking promises with humans which just allows for their rejection

@Fantasialore I think your videos are fun, have a lot of character, and feel genuine to you as a creator. The AI generated images though would make a lot of people not click on them since they would assume the videos were AI as well. In general people are extremely cautious about AI in their life and even more when it comes to art and books. I'd consider making a change even if it means learning how to do better thumbnails. It may be harder, take more time, and effort but it would fit your channel way better as a result. Again I actually really like your videos. You have a lot of passion. That's why the AI generated images suck even more.
