Something marvellous about the ambience of 80s camcorder footage. Used to go to Hither Green just down the line to watch trains with my dad in the early 80s. Nostalgic times.

Funny how I now look back with nostalgia on these "once bland" commuter trains. I do miss the old slam doors. Also the sounds that go with them. I cannot abide the wee-wee-wee sound of the modern locomotions. All the best.

Fantastic video! Lewisham has always been a great place to watch the intensive service. I miss those old "51 stock" 4EPB units.

I was a Guard based at Grove Park when this was filmed. I wonder if I was working any of these services? Has brought back some happy memories. 😊

I used to think they were so common in the 80s and yet now, would love to hear an EPB again! Great 73, 56 and 47 loco movements.

I have to be honest, I was not at all interested in the 1957/1963 stock at all, but now like you I miss them, they had character and were comfortable even with the dusty cushions....best wishes to you and many thanks....Mark

Another mild winter without snow. We took the train to London just after Christmas but it got busy early with commuters and uncle hung out on a routemaster round Piccadilly Circus 😊😊

Interesting to see the crossovers in what looks like near new condition - flat and perfectly aligned trackwork and check rail ends all nicely painted white. Watching videos early this year that track looked a real mess with low spots between the diamonds and poor lateral alignment. Then mid-year all was bright and new again. So, a lifespan of 34 years for the crossings, or would they have been replaced in the interim?

When I was doing driver training round there about 1990 my instructor said that those crossings wore out in six months even with manganese crossing noses. Not 34 years mate! Very heavy traffic and much intensive battering of p way there.
