Soooooo . . . true story . . . the band played at Colorado State University in the early 90s. I bought two tickets, one for my son who was in junior high and his friend. Before the concert, Sponge was at Best Buy to meet fans and sign autographs. My son met the band and they signed his CD. The concert was predominantly college students. My son and his friend, because they were so small, were right up front. One of the band members recognized/remembered my son so they pulled both of them on stage for the rest of the concert. Afterwards they invited both of them to hang out with them backstage. When I went out to pick them up, they were so ecstatic.

Outside of being once more well known as being the Motor City, Detroit has represented itself very well musically over the past 6 decades.

I remember when the drummer left work at Pyramid Guitars (technically in Livonia I think) to go play for Sponge. More specifically, I remember being in the store and someone told me.

Amazing song, goes without saying! But there is also something else about the 90s rock videos, they are just so full of depth and soul compared to the shit that comes out now. This video really has an atmosphere to it like Soundgarden black hole sun and Nirvana smells like teen spirit. There is something a little sad captured in it I think.

These videos absolutely hold up as well as the music.

The nineties I remember as an overall pessimistic time for youth. I was a teen then and everything was just so dark. This song plays so well even today.

We were calling out the BS and we were silenced for it. Try the lyrics to Guster, Medicine, Rage Against the Machine's Wake Up and Toad the Wet Sprocket's All Right. They were explaining the process to fame and it's corruption and how in the end it corrupts our society. Most visceral that comes to mind being Guster, Airport Song. Lyrics meant something in the 90's. So did singing and being able to play at least one instrument. No supercomputers to cover for you.

Met Vinny at restaurant here in Michigan most awesome musician I've ever met it made my friends and I feel special when he was taken back by the fact we weren't jumping all over him and asking him for autographs and pics but we just simply wanted to have a real conversation with him and he told us where he made his 1st ever record deal on a pay phone in Detroit and his exact words to us were dont stop writing he explained how he wrote his way outta the ghetto and he wouldn't have made I if he stopped. mad respect

This is certainly one of the iconic songs of the 90's. I wonder what I saw in some of the songs in that Era but these guys appitomized Detroit grunge. I lived in Detroit in the 90's where grunge had a home. Rage, Korn, Tool, Alice n' Chain's and Pantera were my were my harder bands of choice.

I forgot how much I enjoyed this song. I was checking out all of my features of having Amazon Prime (which I've had for over a year) and just noticed I got free music and was seeing if it was even worth while music. And I didn't recognize some of the bands they had and was seeing if I knew any of them and as soon as I clicked play on this one flashbacks hit me like a shit ton of bricks. I don't even know where I heard this before but it was so vivid in my mind that it's so odd to find something I wasn't even looking for.

Same man. I discovered this song around late summer of 2019 and I didn't know what it was but something about those guitars reeled me in like a Metallica song would with the guitars at the forefront and a simple but good rolling drum beat along with it

Always loved Sponge and upon falling down a sentimental rock/grunge evening, looking up bands early years, just stumbled on the crazy fact that this album was recorded in rural Michigan, and just over 1 mile from the house I bought and have lived in for 8yrs! I was always aware they were a 'Detroit' band but almost no one knows of quiet Saline, MI....Especially when this was recorded 🤯 Amazing magical discovery
