Soooooo . . . true story . . . the band played at Colorado State University in the early 90s. I bought two tickets, one for my son who was in junior high and his friend. Before the concert, Sponge was at Best Buy to meet fans and sign autographs. My son met the band and they signed his CD. The concert was predominantly college students. My son and his friend, because they were so small, were right up front. One of the band members recognized/remembered my son so they pulled both of them on stage for the rest of the concert. Afterwards they invited both of them to hang out with them backstage. When I went out to pick them up, they were so ecstatic.

I was travelling through the desert with my lady and my dog this last week and this song came on the radio, for those 3 minutes life just felt so freaking surreal/amazing. The endless vast expanse, the hills and plains. The blue skies, dense clouds breaking over mountain tops in the distance. Flying down the highway no car in sight, going 70+ mph. I had to hum the song into my phone to find it lol. good times.

Gotta love the nuances bands put in their recorded music in the 90's. Harmonic singing feedback, blooming single notes that sustained forever, pick scrapes, and all things most technical players would consider undesirable traits in music. These are the simple things that made the 90's rock music stand out.

I'm, really, glad I got to see them do their "Rotting Pinata" Rewind Tour back in August 2012 in the small ass town of Marlborough, MA. There were, like, 30 people there, and I was right in front to enjoy the shit out of this song and the entire set of songs from that album. I couldn't see them live back in the 90s, so I'm very very thankful I got that second chance, to do so, considering this is my, all time, favorite song and band. Thank you, Sponge, and thank you for the show, that night.

@@apcsox I apologize for the 4 year late reply, as YT does not like sending notifications over much of anything these days. It would have been really awesome to see Fuel perform, as well, as they're a great late 90's band. I moved all the way out to Idaho and funny enough we just had Third Eye Blind come through here in November. It was at the University of Idaho. It's great being able to see these bands I never got to see when I was too young in the 90's.

Even though I was born in '96, for some reason a little bit of this type of music kept going throughout the early 2000s so maybe that's why I feel a little connection. It's such an amazing song man. Love the lyrics and the simplicity of the music video.

Amazing song, goes without saying! But there is also something else about the 90s rock videos, they are just so full of depth and soul compared to the shit that comes out now. This video really has an atmosphere to it like Soundgarden black hole sun and Nirvana smells like teen spirit. There is something a little sad captured in it I think.

We were calling out the BS and we were silenced for it. Try the lyrics to Guster, Medicine, Rage Against the Machine's Wake Up and Toad the Wet Sprocket's All Right. They were explaining the process to fame and it's corruption and how in the end it corrupts our society. Most visceral that comes to mind being Guster, Airport Song. Lyrics meant something in the 90's. So did singing and being able to play at least one instrument. No supercomputers to cover for you.
