It's also worth remembering the time in which this song came out. The mid 90s saw a considerable boom in the consumption of the SSRI family of anti-depressants, like Prozac or Paxil. Many people suspect that the heavy marketing push behind these drugs was a large part of their new popularity, and they were being prescribed in cases where other forms of treatment would have been more appropriate, but patients wanted Prozac because they saw it on TV.

I can actually specifically remember the exact time at which it suddenly became legal to advertise prescription drugs on television. @@dannyburns1867 I went to high school with the son of a WRIF lawyer. He said nobody at the station liked him, and that he wouldn't be on air too much longer as a result. Then and now I found that sad. He did his job as a good traditional DJ playing as much good music as theyd let him. There were blatantly some toe stepping personality nutcases, and other ridiculous behaviors routine listeners of the past got clued into. 15 years ago I spent a year in Phoenix, then shortly after the SF Bay, and realized how truly awful detroit radio is. Drew used to make fun of people who called out the superiority of every other region's radio stations, but they were right. Then right after I got back drew and Mike got taken off the air. 10 years later I still don't listen to the radio here. It's complete shit, especially without Drew and Mike's humor pre FCC crackdown that was such a memorable part of my childhood.

@@dannyburns1867 To be clear and specific I think some others were jerks, and to be fully honest- at least one case of a full blown narcissistic psychopath. I have never heard of a reason to dislike Arthur P, whereas I intuitively disliked many others of the era.
