No matter how it turns out, the manga did it better. Squidward coming in clutch to save Spongebob at the late minute had emotional stakes the anime can't possibly reach.

My favorite part in the manga was chapter 250. When spongebob figured out all of the deepest parts of bikini bottom and reveals the dirty plans of plankton. We see crazy character development right there. Spongebob went from the happy little man who respects everyone to the man who seeks vengeance on not just his bestfriend but to completely take out the entire evil of bikini bottom. We also get to see 50% power mr krabs. If it was full power I bet you he could of really destroyed the entire ocean like plankton said he could to squidward.

He got injected by chum, reconfiguring his brain to be planktons servant. Plankton then made his apart of his army and defeat spongebobs freinds. After killing patrick and removing sandys arm, he fought spongebob and won. In the season 2 intro they fought again, squidward grew 2 extra arms and Patrick's ghost helped spongebob. In the season 3 intro im assumin squidward was uninfected, or based on his eyes injected with the krabby patty formula.
