Honestly, the eel/worm/anglerfish is the only seemingly normal thing in this world. He doesn’t know anything of the outside of his cave, and thus he sees it as a barren wasteland. Spongebob’s crazed flailing about is alien to him, and when he tries to leave the cave, the worm/eel/anglerfish is trying to save him from the nothingness of the outside, as he’s never had a friend, and views Spongebob as a curiosity.

This is probably the creepiest thing I've seen. The movements are puppet like and creepy, the eyes are also puppet like, the music is janky and terrible, and for some reason the imagery of a giant predator ripping into a small animal has always terrified me. The way he flails in such a terrified manner before being devoured completely and killed unnerves me. The way the moment he runs away the music picks up speed and makes it seem this is the terror of his life. Not only does Spongebob scare me but also does the worm.

This episode is most likely an allegory to modern life. We see the protagonist, Spongebob, in his own world, singing to himself and dancing around. Little does he know, he would soon walk into a cave with a deadly eel inside.
