Same here, a lot of the old animatronics and theming were repurposed for Danse Macabre and restored prior to their installation too 🙂

I went on a school trip in 1978 (Spookslot's opening year). I was 7 years old at the time. When I went in the group I was with got too scared and went back through the entrance. But I never noticed or didn't care. Probably too mesmerized by it all. I stayed and watched the show, lost my group, went on a solo trip through Efteling before I was found and the bus returned 2.5 hours late because of it. I didn't get nostalgic or upset when they decided to tear it down, but Spookslot is my first actual memory of Efteling. So it is still special to me.

In the original design drawings of Dance Macabre, this Spookslot resident can also be seen 0:19 , unfortunately this was not realized in Danse Macabre, but the three judges are 1:13 , who from now on are called Trio Triangolo.

Yes the hangman sadly wasn't included but at least the trio still feature😁👍🏻

we didnt know it was bound to be demolisched but really wanted to see it 1st thing in the morning.. we actualy had to wait a few minutes before it opened.. even my sons (20+) enjoyed it

I think it's such a shame that this element 1:34 isn't included in Danse Macabre, I always thought it was so impressive to watch.

Yeah, the monks in Danse Macabre sadly don't move like these ones 😞🙏🏻

@@TPIOfficial Jeroen Verheij The designer of Dance Macabre indicated in an interview that he still has many ideas about additions and improvements to Dance Macabre. I am curious to see what Dance Macabre will bring in the future, so who knows, the monks may have an even greater role in the future.
