Soviet heavy tanks in War Thunder can be pretty hit or miss, with tanks like the Object 279 being amazing and tanks like the T-10M being pretty mediocre. The premium T-10A takes the latter and makes it a bit more fun.

Spookston you should play a historically accurate T-10M lineup. This would be the T-10 itself, T-54 with APDS and HEAT, ASU-85, and potentially the PT-76. All of which were made around the 50s and 60s. Although I should note that the T-10M didn’t get its APDS and HEAT rounds until 1967 and shortly after that Khrushchev pulled the plug on Soviet heavy tank production. Alternatively you could add in the T-55A, but without its APFSDS round since that wasn’t implemented until the 80s.

You should try the Italian 75 M41 or M42 tank destroyers at 2.3. They're decently mobile and have a fun gun. By far the most amusing part is the fact that they have 270g of filler in their APHE. Being able to one shot LVTs feels SO good

Try the Fiat/Ansaldo M11/39. It has everything low tier Italy has to offer. Bad armor, bad speed. The 37mm gun has APHE, but its casemated. Best of luck. (attempt 79)

since you said the ratel 90 wasn't bad, you should play the objectively awful ratel version; the ratel 20. it has the same bad mobility as the 90, but with the same weapons as the marder IFV, which doesn't sound bad at first, until you realise you're expected to fight king tigers and jumbo pershings with 7 ATGMs that do barely any damage and reload slowly, and an autocannon that can't even pen a panther's side (day 46)

You don't have to rely on penetration power to go through maus cheek, just aim at the cheek corners between the hull and the turret, it should ricochet and funni round overpressure(I do this alot with IS-3)

This tank is most certainly my favorite heavy tank. While it does suffer against heat when uptiered, it performs admirably well when facing others at its own tier, and below. The only real downside, when compared to the IS-6, is its terrible reverse speed; but at least it has smokes!
