I am legit more afraid of this thing than any comteporarily-tiered tank I can think of myself - I play the Centurion variants pretty regularly and while they're all good tanks themselves, I know if I don't have my gun loaded and pointing directly at a PT-76-57 the moment it appears, I'm getting five 57mm APHE shells through my hull / gun barrel / in my cupola, it's terrifying Even driving the Chieftain variants and seeing someone bring this thing in as a backup is horrible - the Chieftain has a paper hull so it's never a surprise to get clapped when you're exposed in it, but when you're hull-down, angled backward, doing everything perfectly and an extremely hard kill for any other MBT, and one of these things rolls up, blasts your barrel to pieces, and then forces a billion rounds through the turret ring / gunner's sight slot / coaxial machinegun / cupola + commander's face, it just absolutely sucks

I agree 100% with this. It was the same deal with the Puma as well. Honestly my biggest gripe with these light tanks is that they manage to consistently survive hits that absolutely should total the vehicle. If they survive a shot they will look directly at you and chip you down like a pest. I play britain as well and grinding 7.3 - 8.3 for the last few months and facing these two things along with begleits and bmp 2m's was torture.

Play the CV9040 next. With the addition of the Puma and PT-76-57 and the buffs on the Begleit and BMP-2M, the CV9040s does not feel that amazing to play anymore, since you have better IFVs/Light tanks options at lower BRs, with better mobility, armaments and even armor than you. The powercreep ruined these tanks imo. Still they are really funny to play.

The Puma alone is already way, way better than the Strf 9040C, and sits at 9.3 while the 9040 is at 10.0. Puma have better armor and survivability, better mobility, better gunhandling and doesn't have a ready-rack ammo. Yea sure the swedish 40mm cannon does a lot of damage, but c'mon, 24 shells in the ready-rack? The Begleit have an almost half-bigger cannon (57mm) with the double of ammo inside the ready-rack, have ATGMs, better gun handling and better mobility. Also sits at 9.3. BMP-2M have ridiculously broken ATGMs, 4 that can be shot on the move at the same time, and also have better gun handling and better mobility. And ALSO sits at 9.3, together with the Begleit and Puma. Like, what? Why the CV90s have to be at a higher BR while being marginally worse? Let's not forget the laser rangefinder. It's bad enough that this thing has an amazing gun and ammo, but a laser rangefinder makes target acquisition extremely fast. Meanwhile, at that BR it's mostly facing tanks with a stereo rangefinder and pretty much no advantage over the PT-76-57. I have it and I rarely play it, it just feels too OP and too easy to seal-club even with little skill involved. It's head and shoulders above anything on that BR.

Nah, not really comparable to the PT76-57. The damn thing is as stable as a house of cards in a hurricane, cant shoot over the frontal arc, is slow as hell and can be killed by any vehicle in the game frontaly by machinegun fire. I personally dont even use it because I really hate its unstable gun platform and fields of fire. The soviet milk trucks with 23mm are way better and funnier to play. The most OP vehicle to ever grace War Thunder though was the french 40mm LVT at its 2.3 BR. It had a fraking 40mm and two 50cals plus no armor is best armor. Damn that thing was amazingly OP. Had a game with 16 kills including aircraft and some assists. No deaths.

Have you considered that, by every practical definition, the PT-76 is a Monitor Warship? It is a relatively small, shallow do drafted Ironclad vessel with a turreted cannon that is inordinately large for a warship of its size.

Easy; the blowout panels only work if the panel itself isn't penetrated. The angle he shot it at likely smashed into the interior panel, causing the ammo det to kill the crew. I'm not saying it isn't BS, but the panels pretty often (in my experience) work if the ammo is shot directly from the side. This isn't to detract from your statement about the PT76-57; it's *very* overpowered, but in this case the blowout panels likely wouldn't have worked as the interior was damaged.

Well, maybe you could try the JPZ 4-5, as most people say it is bad, but from mz experience, once you unlock the HEAT it is great vehicle. One of the reasons I think it is good, most players which play against Germany at 6.3 don’t expect there is anything fast apart from pumas. And the HEAT oh boy, these T44 players sometimes go completely mad about how I can pen them through the main plate with my stupid tank destroyer.

Sorta? It’s not that large. Compared to a m56 it’s large, but compared to turreted vehicles it’s nice and squat. The selling point of the JPZ 4-5 is what no one seems to talk about, which is the optics. I don’t know what the max magnification on it is, but I do know I can very comfortably make 1000-2000m shots in that thing where most vehicles at that BR struggle. The HEAT-FS completes the package, but it’s still not a bad vehicles just running the HESH.

@@soulforge3468 Yes, the optics are great, it’s the only tank below 7.3 which I’m able to fire accurately on the distance between 1000-2000m. Another thing is it has great smoke launchers, they basically don’t cover you from the front, but from one side to. And it has the NVD, which can be very useful in the evening/night battles.

This is the only tank where I can get an easy nuke ingame. My first game in it I got a nuke. I once got two nukes in a row(in two separate games, Duh) because of it. People that say it can't kill frontally are stupid. The only one that comes to mind is the M103 that I really struggle, By struggle I mean having to use 2 brain cell and aim for the gun. The rest can be killed by hitting the cupola. Because APHE are super realistic. It used to be *7.3*

Taking a premium tank to say bias takes some low ass IQ, I am finishing rank 3 of the soviets and I have yet to experience the famous Russian bias everyone talks about. I mean, Panthers and their troll turret armor are f2p, Jumbos are f2p and with volumetric shells paying for bushes isn't necessary anymore, Pz-IV somehow can withstand 76mm to their front plate, american tank destroyers are the incarnation of OP as fuck with velocity and killer guns, no Soviet tank has significative turret depression, no reverse velocity, unreasonably slow reloads even on 3 man turrets, wide tracks to vehicle weight means nothing on WT so even the difficult terrain mobility does not exist, etc. I get that premium autocannons are good and object 279 is a beast, but those are premium, where the BIAS everyone keeps talking about, I want a taste of it.

I've been playing the T-29 American heavy tank recently as I picked it up in the summer premium sales this year. And I've been very impressed with how good it is at 7.0 even facing 7.7 and 8.0 isn't that big a deal if you play right because the aphe round is really good.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ZSU-57-2 Yes, PT-76-57 has a laser rangefinder and a stabilizer, BUT it also has 1 less gun, 2 less crew members, and less room to mess up your shot to kill it, AND its still 0.7 BR higher than the ZSU-57-2. You can easily carry enough ammo to get quite a bit of kills while still putting little to no ammo in the turret of the ZSU-57-2, similar to the PT-76-57. Personally I think that 8.0-8.3 would be a good BR for the PT-76-57, but maybe that should bring attention to the ZSU-57-2 and how good it really is. Just a thought.

i play the wz305 and it's amazing still at 8.0 (in an AT role that is). and in an AA role it's fucking godlike, i've gotten 8 plane kills in one match thanks to the proxy it gets in comparison to its russian counterpart. the zsu-57 works as a 7.3 or maybe even a 7.7, with the better wz305 being at 8.0.

They should just give zsu the proxy shells and move it up to 8.0 like chinese one. I agree zsu is really good at killing tanks and has enough pen even for ww2 heavies. Killing planes is very hard though. PT 76 57 should be 8.3 which would be fair when compared to similiar tank like type 89. PT has better damage and pen so not having atgms is not that big of a deal

This thing should be 8.7, the idea of it being introduced at 7.0 was comical. It is quite literally, as you put it, Russian bias incarnate. It is superior to the WMA, the type 87 and the type 89. This thing should be happily sitting at 8.7. The idea that this is lower in BR than the bradley or the warrior is laughable.

It's kinda indescribably both far better and worse than back then, on average it gets stomped quite fast, often without even a single kill, because of all the nerfs it has had since its introduction, the very poor survivability , the below average gun laying on the vertical, and poor penetration with loss of its apds belt so you will struggle to fight opponents to get kills if you play it like a normal tank, most games on it will be below average if you are an average player. In good hands however, with someone able to exploit the advantages the cannon, speed and turret traverse this thing offers, it is TOO good, my most recent nuke game was with the zsu-57, I got it less than 5 minutes into the game by just outgunning the entire team coming out of their spawn on single "C" cap El Alamein because almost their entire team was fast light tanks rushing C cap, (yay light tank meta) held a back flank after that and carefully picked off some slower vehicles while playing defensively, had about 15 kills in the span of about 2-3 mins and when I noticed I just ended the match with a nuke. Was the fastest nuke game I'd even gotten, but that kinda highlights what the vehicle is, its got some extreme firepower but none of the handholds the PT-76-57 does, you don't just have to know what YOU are doing, but also what the enemy is doing, where, when, and why,(and THEN get lucky) or you won't do even decently well with this tinder box on tracks.

Try a Soviet gimmick out of my book: -use the commander sight on BMP-2m to shoot atgms onto people without exposing yourself, or do the same with the sprut -behind the horizon artillery dumbfuckery with the BMP-3 -Anti-air duties in the Mil Mi-24 (spawn with 4 R60Ms destroy anything in the air) -T-90A Helicopter massacre -Shturm bullshitery -Khrizantema, but you went for a swim and ended up a pirate -Using Shrapnel shells (actually works, nah just fucking with you) -low tier 122mm gaming -BMP-1 with Malyutka, but you are using it as an indirect fire weapon or even better as a top attack missile
