For Belladonna: I love the artwork that came with the Fairyloot(?) edition, and the synopsis sounds GREAT, but knowing it's labelled as a YA fantasy-romance.... I wanna read it for what is advertised but I know in my soul I'm going to hate it. And 18:11 seems like what dredded, happens *cries* Katy Watson about to see hundreds of people buy her book xD

i felt the exact same way about the hacienda. it was exactly the right amount of creepy and had a really engaging atmosphere. i also liked the twist that the priest was less a priest and more of a local folk magic practitioner hiding from the spanish inquisition. that was a fun twist. but it was still a four star even though i really liked it. for me, a five star is a feeling. i know it when i feel it.

Belladonna gave me such Secret Garden vibes, an orphan moving into a rich family members manor (which she knows nothing about), a sick / potentially dying cousin no one really wants her to visit, and a servant love interest who she shouldn’t have anything to do with. Just add a mystery and more romance (plus death) and you get Belladonna
