It really looks like it is just exactly the same as the old ERTL ecto-1 with a more accurate paint job (blue hoses, roof rack, tanks, windows, etc). The Slimer accessory certainly is the same that came with the old ecto-1.

Same company different label so yes they are releasing most of their older models they released with any inaccuracies usually rectified

Hi! I think you never considered my 1st comment but i just checked. This ecto-1 is "1/21". So exact same size than the 1st edition made by ertl. An 1/18 ecto-1 is 35 cm long. Here you have 30cm.. so it is 1/21!

You are absolutely right! The scale of this model is 1/21. This is clearly seen next to the Sun Star 1/18 models.

The other version you have is joyride by ERTL Autoworld is owned by ERTL and are re-producing most of the models Ertl had released previously , I know on some of my Autoworlds you can see Ertl stamped on the bottom Ertl did models as joyride and American muscle etc the hotwheels elite has the roll out tray in the rear of the ecto that you mentioned you wish this had , I have this as well it's cool

As someone who bought three of them...Get Autoworld NOT Joyride for Christine. Better interior 1:18 die cast that has opening doors,trunk,and hood. Nicely detailed. I have Joyrides version as well and it's completely incorrect in the interior. It's all black while Autoworlds had the correct red on red interior. Actually has floor mats and detailing in the trunk. Front wheel move with the steering wheel. I learned the hard way buy definitely go with the Autoworld. Feel free to contact me for photos or more descriptions. I wish there was a group out there that I could join so as to get advice on which ones are better. I paid $50 more for the Joyride and it was crap. The headlights weren't even as bright as Autoworlds. Hope this helps!

Hi! Do you know if the old joyride version has the same size? Some people use to say that the new one (johnny lightning / autoworld) is 1/21 too despite it's written 1/18... Thanks.

I have both models ( this one and Hotwheels) and I don't recommend to buy Hotwheels. Yes, Hotwheels' model is more detailed, but it's quality is worse - many defects of painting of the body, chrome details, attached parts. Some parts are loose and shaking, spots of glue, glasses are made of chip and thin film, etc. I'm totally disappointed with Hotwheels production. You can read reviews on Amazon regarding the model. Currently it costs between 200 and 300 USD on the secondary market and it doesn't cost this money.

Me too! Ecto 1 is next in line and I would love one that lights up! Made too many mistakes and I wish I had found this videos sooner . Bradford Exchange is pre ordering a 1:24 Ecto 1 that lights up and plays the theme song and sounds. It's pretty pricey and they can't even tell you when it ships but I may go for it anyway. My mom has a BE Betty Boop 57 Bel-Air convertible she left me and the details were awesome so even though it's on my next 1:18 purchases, I may wind up with 2 Ecto 1s. Can't help the little kid in me.lol

No way is that true to scale 1/18. Looks small especially when you held it up with your hands. I have the Hot Wheels Elite 1/18 Ecto-1 and its bigger than that!

Good looking model... if not for the incorrect rear bumper! This seems like a reissue of the Joyride version and I just cannot fathom how such a huge mistake was let through to production. Deal breaker for me right there. The Hot Wheels version is better and more accurate. Even the '24 Jada version, despite needing some detail work done to make it look better, would be preferrable in this regard. I held this model in my hands (or the previous release) at a car show years ago and never plunked down the money for it due to the above reason alone. Unfortunate.

i stayed away from hot wheels as many said it was poorly made broken parts etc etc that amazon reviews from a distance its fine when up close it has many defects, amazon buyer reviews. on top of that to many fakes of the hot wheels elite versions just stop me from buying them unless new on release when they come. and the grill partly in black is recreating what you see in life and on the movie, the centre of the chrome is very dark in the films its almost black

Despite Hotwheels is more detailed, has opening hood and rear doors, painting of the model's body and attached details is awful. Glasses are made of thin film which is easily unglued. So, I'm very disappointed with Hotwheels production.

It used to be a Ambulance.. and the proton packs rest on a gurney. The remake ecto.. use to be a funeral car.. but that movie sucks 😂
