Spoon Fishing Secrets for Hidden Winter Bass

If your lake has it, standing timber is a great place to find bass in the winter (and late fall). Baitfish group up at the base of the deep standing tree forest, and bass come in for an easy meal. A great way to catch these bass is by jigging or power reeling a spoon. Spoons are a great bait for imitating baitfish and Bassmaster Elite Brandon Cobb shares some secret tips on reducing your frustration when fishing a spoon and how to catch more bass. Cobb also drives over some standing timber with his Lowrance HDS12 sonar marine electronics (with side imaging, down imaging and 2d sonar) and marks some better trees for holding bass, balls of baitfish and some actively-feeding bass that are relating to the bottom and the baitfish.

Bro, I've had some of my best days using mono. Shit isn't outdated. Today's fishermen are fooled by marketing. FYI, I use mono, braid, and flourocarbon just to let u know I'm not biased. They all have their place.

He mentions the exact model in the full video at bassu.tv, but I don't recall the length & specs. It is one of his signature series rods from ARK www.tacklewarehouse.com/Ark_Brandon_Cobb_Series_Casting_Rods/descpage-ABC.html?from=butv I believe he states that he is using a REVO MGX (I would assume 8:1 ratio) www.tacklewarehouse.com/Abu_Garcia_REVO_MGX_Casting_Reel/descpage-MGXN.html?from=butv There are certainly more cost-effective 8:1 reels, like the AL-F www.tacklewarehouse.com/Abu_Garcia_REVO_AL-F_Casting_Reel/descpage-RALF.html?from=butv but they are not as light.
