one of the greatest songwriters ever - and this maybe his greatest most beautiful songs. My favorite song ever. Michael Smith lives in our hearts always.

Michael's work has been by me most of my life. I did not realize these songs were not Traditional as I grew older. I thought they had been around for a century.....His music is ageless and will be made forever...

I love the guitar harmonics at the end, a very nice touch.

It's so very wonderful to hear your music again! Spoon River was one of the many favorite tunes you play. I was always at all your gigs at The Colonial Lounge in Livonia MI, early 70's. Never have forgotten you, your music has always stayed with me! Bless you Michael Smith!

Michael is a joy, a shining presence and I would travel most anywhere on the East coast to see him. I had the thrill of sitting about three feet away from him in a little house where he played "Vampire" and took my breath away.

Just heard an old interview and performance from you on 88.5 in St. Pete ... was absolutely transfixed. You are a true talent, sir.

Thank you all for recognizing MPS for the talent he is. I am proud to be able to share these vidz from when he was my guest at a benefit concert I put on for my sister. Inspiration abounds!

He gave a wonderful concert last night at Trinity House in Livonia, Michigan. He deserves a larger audience.I've been going to his concerts since the Seventies.

He's living proof that mass popularity DOES NOT translate inversely to talent. Did I say that right? You get the idea.

An odd thing to say about one of the greatest songwriters of all time.I think his lyrics are almost perfect, definitely transporting. Did you expect plagiarism?

MPS was and is a musical genious. It's a shame he prefers to remain so low key and protective of his copyrights.

I expected more haunting lyrics from this magnificent collection of poems by Edgar Lee Masters. Smith's lyrics seem strangely unrelated to the many poems I studied for years in acting classes. Nothing sounded familiar. Not a very rewarding song at all, although well played. His "Dutchman" is a wonderful story, compared to this.
