This video gives an overview on polynomial regression under the light of MATLAB coding. Basically, polynomial regression is a form of linear regression in which the relationship between the known variable & dependent variable is modeled as an nth degree polynomial. First part of the video uses both the ‘polyfit’ and ‘polyval’ command subsequently with plotting function to get the outputs for variables values assignment over the graphical wireframe. Next, the video talks about the natures of the degree of different curves and lines changing the model of the plotting,
The function ‘polyfit’ finds the coefficient of a polynomial of degree, n that fits the y data minimizing the sum of the square of the deviation of the data from the model. And the function ‘polyval’ returns the value of a polynomial of degree n that is determined by polyfit function evaluated at x. Moving on, the video does changes in equation form and variable value to get a best fit curve & finally refers to watch next video to get in touch with the lesson of linear regression polyfit.
