The blue looks good, should be great on the bike. That said I really like to encourage people to use a color that will stand on when you get the brake like kit. Over the last couple years I have used yellow lines on a few bikes and really like the way they look. On the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 (our is black) I went with green lines and they really pop. If you have the blue bike I would go with yellow or red lines and blue fittings / banjos. Trust me this will look great on the bike. I really enjoy doing these projects and have wanted this bike since I rode one last summer. Thank you for watching! - Brian Van

First off, I love your channel, your level of integrity and honesty and realness. I purchased a set of these red brakelines from your company, for my Mira Red 2017 GSXR1000. My dream bike! I am having the local dealership, put them on, because I'm not comfortable with doing the job. They are charging me $200, $100 an hour for the job. Was just wondering, how long would the job personally take you, or an experienced mechanic, to do? Is that a fair price? I'm also purchasing the Hotbodies fender eliminator, "would be nice if you had a video install for that", Hotbodies flushmount turn signals, Techspec tank grips, and the Lightech carbon rear fender, all of which I am going to do myself. Wish you sold the T-Rex frame sliders! Thank you in advance!
@sportbiketrackgear4 жыл бұрын
$100 an hour is fair and 2 hours to do the job also seems like a fair rate for that. I would expect the end result to be both clean and professional for $200. Sorry we do not have installs for the other parts and are not able to do them as this bike has now been converted to track only. Thank you for your business and enjoy that bike! - Van

You can't put a price on safety, so I'd pay more personally. That being said, I did this to my bike, 17 1000R, chose white with gold tips, looks clean AF. Bled the air then zip tied and let it ride a few hrs. My first ever brake swap on my 2007 was a bad experience. Almost crashed when fronts locked up on me. Trial and error, but overall, I can't beat a free video and excellent guidance

Hello, looking for a little advice. Love your videos by the way. I have a 09 cbr1000rr abs, the abs light started flashing. Everyone said air in the system. You made the ABS bleed look easy, like any other I've done, but I'm being told and also the manual is saying it's more involved. You need to activate the ABS module to get trapped air out. What your recommendation.
@sportbiketrackgear5 жыл бұрын
The procedure to bleed the brakes on an ABS equipped bike is almost always the same as it would be on a non ABS model. That said there are exceptions to every rule. If there is air in the lines you need to find what caused that to happen. The brake system is sealed so the only way for air to be introduced is to open it up for service or a failed component. With a quick Google search I found a thread that made mention of a failed ABS unit. www.1000rr.net/forums/1000rr-brakes/91073-abs-light-flashing.html

One of the big things I was happy about when I bought my 2nd ever bike was steel brake lines, I ended up going with a 2020 Street Triple R cause they had a low height version with 30.8 inch seat. That was a big deal for me cause I'm short and I didnt want to take a bike and alter the suspension with lowering kits cause that would throw all the geometry off where as this is a different/modified shock and fork setup with a thinner seat so handling isn't effected. I had no idea triumphs came with steel brake lines but that was a huge plus cause I had heard rubber lines only last so long before they need replacing. If I already have steel brake lines I assume I wouldn't see much benefit from installing a kit like this right?
@sportbiketrackgear3 жыл бұрын

Sportbike Track Gear no doubt, it's a relatively big job, and a test of patience but I'd do it again. But like I said on another vid, these liter sport bikes are so racetrack biased these days, they should come as standard with top of the line brake lines.

Seeing a design like this makes me wonder how much additional heat the brake fluid picks up with the lines to the ABS unit running in close proximity to that nice hot engine when its running?
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
I have ridden it twice since the install was done and had no issues. When I did this install I was careful with the routing of the lines to make sure I did not create any issues. IMO the stainless steel braided line would insulate the brake fluid from the heat better than the steel tubing it replaced. This made a tremendous difference in the braking feel and power as expected. The factory ABS is pretty slick on this bike, love the way it works and excited to see how it feels once I am up to speed all the way on this bike. - Van

Great tutorial as always Van. Question for you, how much of a difference can you tell in braking performance/power when replacing the lines from the ABS module? I'm curious about doing this upgrade on my '16 R1. However, like the GSX R-1000R most of the lines are already metal with only a small amount being rubber in the line. Just wondering if the "juice is worth the squeeze" for such a minimal amount of rubber being replaced. Thanks!

The question is will the abs prevent a low side when trail breaking. What a PITA..
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
Installing a set of brake lines on an ABS equipped bike is a project for sure. That said it is one worth doing IMO. These lines made a massive difference in the braking performance on the GSXR. Now that I have ridden the bike in the dry a couple times I have to say I am impressed with the ABS so far. As I understand it the ABS on the R model bike is designed to help modulate brake pressure when trail braking which is a bad ass feature as long as it is effective. I can't really comment on this feature until I go fast enough to really use it. Still getting used to this bike so I am tip toeing through the tulips right now. The best lap time I have done on this bike at Grattan so far is a 1:24.9, my personal best lap time at Grattan is a 1:21.9 on a Honda CBR1000RR in 2014. The Honda was fully prepped, the GSXR has brake lines, rearsets and a pipe so far. My goal is to do the same time with the ABS and stock suspension on the GSXR this summer. I think this bike is that good out of the box. - Brian Van
