I was in NY in the early sixties, walking around in the village in the evening. I was passing in front of a bar when I herd an exciting piano playing. I entered, the place was packed. Somebody sitting alone at a table saw me standing alone and he invited me ti sit down. It was a memorable experience! I forgot the name of the bar but I do remember the name of the pianist: BH. Since then, he has been one of mime most admired pianists. The beautiful unexpected in life!

It’s easy to admire a woman playing a double bass for the relative rarity of it, but this girl is an absolute killer on the instrument! What a fantastic, engaging solo she gives us. 150% commitment- and style. Rest of band ain’t so slack either!😂

Zoot played with "heart." His soprano is an extension of his tenor - sound, phrasing, etc. I love his using the lower octave and keeping the sound "tenorish." The photo is a riot. I don’t know where the curved soprano came from - Zoot’s horn was a straight soprano. Zoot wasn’t a hat guy - except when he had the curved horn. Jimmy Rowles obviously had a big deal cooking on that telephone.

My old drum teacher Mickey Greeves R.I.P (Streatham , London) would tell us watch stuff like this , as this is how to play the drums in a trio, no question about it, thank you all again.

They really drive/ride the 'front edge' of that beat, don't they, with such a swinging sensibility? Best stand-up bass solo I have ever seen by a woman, so glad the algorithm fed me this. Now I know about this fine trio. Thanks for posting.

Sportiello è un gran pianista con un tocco vellutato della tastiera, una ottima inventiva nell’improvvisazione e uno swing veramente trascinante. Molto affiatato con la Parrot che non lesina mai la sua bravura nel suonare uno strumento importantissimo. Provate ad ascoltare un pezzo senza basso, appare piatto senza dimensione, ma quando parte l’accompagnamento, la sonorità si amplifica e diventa d’incanto tridimensionale.
