cockers were originally bred to hunt [quarter] for woodcock, hence the name. the currently popularity in the UK could be down to size you get a lot of dog in a small package, if space is at a premium it could be a factor. similar to ESS but quite a different dog.

Love the tights technique! This chap also seems to have a wealth of canny little mannerisms that clearly come from a great deal of experience. Does he have any other videos on youtube does anybody know? Ive got a working sprocker that seems to prefer hunting to retrieving. Will retrieve a long thrown dummy well but getting him to pick up game is proving tricky. Time to lay my hands on some nylon tights!

My cocker was bred to work but he is a pet but he chases rabbits and woodcock around and he runs up the little run ways the rabbits leave behind them and he once found a baby bunny and picked it up

No cockers here. Only mixed-bred dogs! Wasn't the field-bred springer enough to match the requirements of all the hunters that are not enough interested to a pure-bred hunting breed? What means, and overall what can be useful the ... (field-bred springer) surrogate named "field-bred cocker"?!
