2:15 I have a hard time fully blaming Casey for this one. It sure looked like Crede initially came down with it after getting the glove up there, especially from Casey's perspective. Yes, he should have stuck with it, but I can understand being frustrated after making good contact and then thinking that the hit had been taken away. Live and learn.

No idea if he was justified in this Ken Giles deal or not, but as a manager Sandberg was a buffoon and so was Bob McClure. Look for the video of Chase Utley reading McClure the riot act on the mound when they left Jeff Francoeur, pitching multiple innings in mopup duty, in to throw 48 pitches because they couldn't contact the bullpen to get a reliever warmed up. I've never seen a baseball player excoriate a coach in public like that with the coach meekly taking it.

I agree. He could have easily say "Ah, fuck it" and given up on the play upon realizing that the left fielder had rifled the ball back in, but he didn't. Instead, as soon as he realized he'd been mistaken about the ball being caught he gave it the ole' 100% college (professional) try.

Wasn't there a play where Javy Baez made no effort to return to first to avoid being doubled off on a fly-out by the batter? @@h445 he’s a cancer. And yes, that reaction of his speaks volumes. It’s not indicative of a single incident. But please, go on making excuses for people. You’d be a manager who’d refuse to hold yourself accountable for a team in shambles for a decade that you “managed” for decades, because you’d absolve individual ego over team play as an m.o. There’s a reason why the Steelers under Noll, the Yankees under Steinbrenner, the Pats under Belichick/Craft, etc. did as well as they did, for as long as they did. They prided team over individual. The second a player exemplified ego, they were cut before they could cause an issue that would effect the team.

I was pitching once in Colt league. As the coach crossed the baseline, he was motioning to me to toss him the ball. A week before, I read in the Sporting News that a manager was hot because a pitcher tossed him the ball, rather than hand it to him. “I’m not out there to play catch with him.” So I extended my arm completely, and waited until he got to the mound, and he took it out of my hand. Went to Astros for a few years 15-18, I believe) and pulled the same crap a couple times. Decent reliever, but never so good as to argue getting yanked.

Donaldson is still the biggest tool in the league. With arenado to take the title when he’s done

Why did Upton go crazy? He clearly jogged. Baseball players are wound so tight

quite frankly if you can't put yourself in another's shoes why don't you just shut up? it wasn't 'clear' to me that he was 'jogging,' perhaps he was being cautious because he didn't know which way the ball was going to caroom off the wall? oh, didn't think of that, did you? just want to form a lynch mob. it's not Longoria's job to say jack shit, if the manager has an issue that's his business and call to go talk to the player, not another team mate. if my co-worker thought i messed up and tried to give me shit about it, i'd go apeshit on them as well. they don't sign my paycheck, so mind your own fucking business.

depends. If your teammate isnt pulling their weight or putting little effort in, then getting mad at them is fair enough. Noone wants to be on a team with someone who doesnt try 100% of the time.
