Is there any lens shape difference between the I/O & I/O mag ? It almost seems the I/O mag is a rounder than the original I/O or am I wrong? wanting some clarity on this because of helmet fitting. Thanks!

Well, the eventual (helmet) fit depends on several factors, like your face shape, the goggle and the helmet. I have a pair of Oakely Airbrake XLs that fit perfectly with my old Atomic Mentor helmet, which sits a bit higher on the forehead, and has no brim, but maybe a bit more curved shape front edge, maybe a bit similar to Oakleys Mod-helmets. However, the Oakleys did not fit with my Sweet Trooper at all, which sits lower on the forehead, has a fairly flat brim area, and the inner shell/liner is a bit "recessed" above the brim level. The Airbrakes left noticeable gaps on both sides of the forehead, but the seal was quite satisfactory at the center. The Smith IO Mag XL on the other hand fits the Trooper much better, due to the goggle upper side being more level/flat compared to the Airbrakes. And also, the Smiths fit the old Atomic helmet, too... But, compared to Airbrake XLs, the Smith IO Max XL is not as "oversize", and the fit against face is a bit smaller, maybe actually an "L"-fit.

It is similar styling but now with the mag interchange and the 'XL' means it has a LARGE fit.

I’ve got the sun green mirror (9% VLT) and storm yellow flash (65% VLT). Want to pick up either the everyday red (25% VLT) or photochromic red (20-40% VLT). Are there any downsides of photochromic (outside of cost) when compared to the standard everyday lenses?

Photochromic lenses may have the tendency of not excelling in any conditions, but they do OK on several occasions. Of course it depends on the primary usage conditions, which lens would suit you best, but between the Photochromic and the Everyday, I would lean towards the Everyday, given your current lens setup. On the other hand, the VLT is not the only thing you should consider, but also the contrast-enhancing properties of the lens. So the Sun lens could be very usable in lower lighting than the actual 9% VLT would mandate. And the higher VLT lenses might cater for a bit higher lighting conditions also, so instead of the Everyday lens, maybe another option would be the Storm Rose Flash (50% VLT)?

Which 2 lenses would you take? ChromaPop Everyday Red Mirror + ChromaPop Storm Rose Flash OR ChromaPop Sun Red Mirror + ChromaPop Storm Rose Flash ? I kinda lean more towards sunny + storm but im not sure if i will have problems in less sunny days since those days happen more often than sunny glacier weather... :S

Hi Christian! The Sun mirror lens is recommended for brighter days and if you experience less sunny days, we'd recommend going with the Everyday mirror lens as it is a more versatile lens. Thanks for reaching out!

I'd go with the EVERYDAY and the low light lense because if you get the sunny day and it isnt sunny out..its going to be dark and little harder to see...so go with the everyday and the low light

Will this fit medium size heads well? I have the regular Mag and it seems to fit just right on my head but I'd certainly love a lil more field of vision. Thanks!

I just bought the IO XL, the strap on the right just came away in my hand with the slightest tap. I sent them back for another and guess what, literally you pick them up and the strap falls of from the strap which connects to the Goggle on the right. The connection is unbelieavably flimsy. My advice don't buy even if the strap stays secure there is no way stand the test of time.

How can you tell which lenses you will receive? I need dark and dreary for those Washington winter's. Also do they sell a clear for night skiing?
