Just like in any review of any optics, I suggest including an episode where you film from behind the goggles and onto a snowy slope. After all this is what the rider will be seeing 100% of the time. Cheers

Great review, lots of details about the lenses... I purchased a pair of Smith Squad XLs with the sun red mirror and storm yellow flash, was afraid the darker lenses would be too dark for sun and cloud days but you just washed my concerns away. Cheers

Thanks for the review, this is the best one I could find. The tint on the sun green lens when looking through it is a pink hue correct? It sounds like it would be a nice tint but I also don't want it to be overwhelmingly saturated

The base tint on the Sun Green Lens is actually gray. It's a really nice tint for very bright conditions.

Came here with the same question. Just got a sun green lens and it also seems pink, and not that dark. Seems like the wrong lens shipped.

For ChromaPop in general, do you guys have any comments on sun green vs red vs platinum? Are the colors really personal preference or do they actually effect contrast? While VLT is slightly different for each, I can’t imagine there being a huge practical difference. I think I’m favoring green but I’m afraid it will be too dark. Then again I’m in southern CA so maybe that’s for the best.

More personal preference than anything else. I found the green had pretty good clarity and definition for being a pretty low VLT. There were a couple times I was stuck using it in cloudy conditions and I didn't feel blind by any means.

@@SkiEssentials hi there!! So with pretty sensitive eyes im better off going green? Gonna go to a resort for the first time and I can choose sun platinum or sun green. Both have a storm rose lens included. Should I just go with green?? Or is it better all round to get platinum?

On a general day when the weather could turn out either way, are both lenses adequate? Which would you pop in if you could do only one? Like, does the Storm lens handle sun/part sun better than the sun lens in overcast?

I personally would go with the Sun Green Mirror on a general day over the Storm lens. Both are more versatile than you'd expect, but my eyes are pretty sensitive to prolonged sun and I'm more comfortable dealing with flat light (dark lens on a cloudy day) than dealing with the eye fatigue of too much sun.

I'm looking for flat light /low light goggles. Would you say most big brands have similarly good contrast or does these or some others stand out a lot in that regard? For example the Oakley flight deck with the prism lens that is supposedly also very good for contrast. Are most other well known brands "newest top models" equally good, like scott, POC, Anon, Dragon and so on?

Realistically, yes, I think most major goggle brands have pretty comparable levels of contrast as long as you're getting their "nicest" lens.

shittt.. looks easy, but tedious!! I have the Scott LCG ones.. so simple compared to these ones. that's why I chose Scott LCG than Smith I OX system.

I definitely was making it look harder than it really is... I like how secure the lens is once it's in place as well. No falling and having your lens eject itself from the frame.

Hi, when you look through the lenses, is there a tint in colour? Like a reddish tint or something?

yes it does. but you get used to it very fast...

It depends on which lens. The platinum mirror lens is just like a sunglass lens without any color. The storm rose flash is a subtle Amber kind of like when your phone uses a blue light filter
