Happy Birthday Paul! I agree with you that grading is not a scam and makes sense in some cases. People have gotten out of control with grading and send in modern cards that make no sense to grade . There is no need to send in modern cards for grading. As others have said, we are definitely in a “junk slab” era

If you have recently sold some of your cards, how do you ensure that you get the best value for your ungraded cards when these graded cards are getting high prices? (I'm against the way the current grading system works as well.)

The reason why I say it’s a scam is because on one day, the card could come back a 10. The next day, the same card could come back a 9 or less. I have seen cards sent to 3 different card companies (the same card) and it come back an 8, a 4, and a 6……different eyes on the same card getting different results every time. We need some more artificial intelligence to grade cards uniformly to take the human element, the subjective part, out of the equation. I’ll die on that hill until all grading companies get it right…….this doesn’t even take into account the tin hat theory that certain people get certain grades. You telling me Nat Turner doesn’t get “favorable” grades? Of course he does. Or people who are big submitters not get favorable grades? Money moves the market and PSA is the leader in that movement. I’ll stand alone if necessary, but I will stand……

Ah yes.....the inconsistency of the human eye....and of the human. Everyone better get used to it until AI takes over...but even that can probably be fooled. I'm with you. This is why I"ll probably never collect comics, coins, or cards (the trifecta of GRADING).

The grading process is super random. Just one dudes opinion determines whether you make money or loose money and waste your time.. feels like a scam to me

TAG is the future of grading. Gets graded with computer AI technology on a 1000 point scale. Card gets the grade it actually is & good luck cracking slabs & resubmitting for better grade. TAG has that on lock.

Here's the real deal at the end of the day.. when it comes down to brass tacks, if someone really wants my card, they are going to pay up for it. Everything I own is ungraded on purpose. To me the grading industry seems what we would call back in the day, a "racket". With that being said, I understand why people like the cases, the way they are displayed, the preservation and instantly knowing what grade they have on any particular item in their collection. That's cool. But I mean, if you have the thing, you have the thing! Graded or not. It doesn't take the average person that long to figure out the grading system. Anyways . Take it easy .

as a collector it is frustrating that sellers hold cards hostage because they wont consider anything less than what they think the card is worth. the card is only worth what someone will pay for it and if it aint selling it aint worth what you think it is.

That's exactly why people like me don't like the grading system. If I have what anyone would consider a 9.5 but it's not graded, I want the same value that a graded 9.5 goes for if not, you're not getting my card. I shouldn't have to pay a company money for someone to see what's right in front of their eyes.

@CeeStyleDj its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. i have a feeling you hold a lot of cards hostage, lol. they are your cards to do with as you wish but if your intention, genuinely, is to sell cards then your sales tactic probably creats problems for your sales numbers. sounds like your trying to get rich on every cards instead of moving product. sunk cost got another one, lol

@@forpetesake20 that's not at all what I'm doing. That's the mindset or mentality of someone who has fallen for the whole grading system process. Holding my cards hostage? I own them - they're mine. I'm not going to pay additional money for someone else to tell me the value of something that I already have.. it's ridiculous. That's why the vast majority of people feel that the grading system is a scam.

It's not necessarily a scam but one it's expensive, two grading is an individual perspective that one person grading might give a card a 10 but the other might not, and three it doesn't matter what a person thinks a card is worth, it's if you can sell it.

When you send a card in at the lowest tier and it gets a 7 then crack it out and resend it at the higher tier and get 10 you'll know it's a scam lol

If you are grading the right cards, you would never ask yourself if it's a scam. Any card worth protecting is worth grading. I live in Houston area and the humidity gets so bad around here that if you just had your cards in a storage unit or garage they would probably be ruined pretty quick. We also get flooding all the time so I don't lose any sleep if water ever got to them, PSA at least. SGC don't do good with water from my experience checking them and watching other people test them online.

Grading takes to long to get back so I don’t really grade regularly. I have a small bin filled with cards that would be gradeble but that would take too much money and time for me so I keep them raw. I only have 12 graded slabs that’s numbered and some autos for the PC at the moment hopefully would like to get more in the future.
