In baseball, since player movement is so fluid, do you think it's better to get a RC card or the 1st year card with the team where he starts having the most success? Or does that even matter? For example, Corbin Burnes.

Sports cards are not investments. Some rare or highly desirable Collectibles do hold or maintain or even raise in value. To use the word invest is using the word to losely. Prospecting includes the risk/reward gambling aspect of buying and selling cards. Sports cards are a hobby only.

If you watched Cj against Georgia, wemby play or edwards before the season started you knew they were all coming, I only do football so AR silver prizm and Aidan O’Connell gold and shimmer prizm hot right now. I got my others lined up for season, but good channel you know what’s up with prospects.

ROE is specific to equity. Return on equity is determined by measuring how many dollars of profit are generated for each dollar of shareholder's equity, and is thus a metric of how well equity is utilized to generate profits. ROI is the ratio between net income and investment. It is used to determine whether an investment is an asset or a liability. If it makes money, it’s an asset. If it loses money, it’s a liability. 3 big reasons why sports cards are a liability when it comes to investing: 1. Volatility. Hard to make profit when you have no idea what the market is going to do. 2. Saturation. Too many ppl trying to make profit in a terrible market. 3. Time. Even if you profit, It takes way too much time and energy to make it worthwhile. Because of this, influencers resort to sleazy tactics to try and profit. They trick people into believing they can easily make money while also having fun and it’s all a lie. It’s terrible for the hobby, but that’s what it has become. Again. Love the content and what you do. Everything I wrote is my objective observation. My opinion doesn’t matter.

You are talking about stocks. Look into real estate appraisal terms. Roi is the tool and roe is the return. I guess we break it down to simple terms? Cause if you buy a rental it has nothing to do with stocks.
@PatTheRipper4 күн бұрын
@@vintagesportsshack the two are vastly different. I would argue sports cards are more similar to stocks than to real estate. I get what you are saying. But most viewers probably don’t. As far as the overall takeaway, I completely agree. Sports cards are not to be used as an investment strategy. While some ppl might churn a small profit, the majority do not. The majority take losses and only brag about the small wins.

Are you saying that roi is not a tool and that there is no formula? Are you saying that roe in real estate is equity or are you using the stock term and trying to use it? Because the whole point is cards are not investments. Sports cards have no value says the expert that defines value...

@@Showcardsusa no, im going to pull up the info for you guys. you keep confusing stocks with real estate appraising. just like your trying to combine cards and investing. i dont care what roe in stocks stands for. i do know what it stands for in real estate appraising. do some research, then get back to me. why talk about stocks when im not? im confused.
@vintagesportsshack4 күн бұрын
@@Showcardsusa look up roi and roe in real estat appraising. roi is the tool for determining and roe is the actual profit that you get back. roi is not the return. in stocks the term is similar but different. if youd listen to the video youd know that thats bascially what im saying, quit trying to take terms from one category to another. you cant use financial terms in cards or use financial terms in real estate, its all slightly different. so your kinda proving my video by arguing with me.
@te2edgesportscards1774 күн бұрын
@@vintagesportsshack No. I'm saying that in your video your referred to ROI as two different things: ROI as Return on Investment (which I agree with you on), and ROI as Return OF Investment (which is incorrect). I'm not here to quibble with you about sports cards as investment/not investments. What I am here to tell you, per your request in the video, is that what you said about Return of Investment in relation to ROE did not make sense, nor was it the correct association/usage of the term. ROE is Return of Equity which is different from ROI. You used ROI to reference two different things and that did not and does not line up; faulty logic. My recommendation: before you start calling out other content creators for not knowing what they are talking about, perhaps you get your facts and definitions lined up so that they are both valid and reliable. My two cents, again, per your request from the video.

With sport cards it should be ROMB Return On My Bet......because, it's not an investment...it's a bet that this piece of cardboard will give you MORE than what you initially BET. Regarding Dallas, an investment of a security guard at his table would probably have been a good investment.

ROE is return on equity and an entirely different thing. ROI is fine to use with sports cards to see whether you're making money with different cards or whatever. Per Forbes, ROI is "a simple ratio that divides the net profit (or loss) from an investment by its cost." You can argue that cards aren't investments, but it's okay to use ROI to see if your grading submission was worth it, for instance.

@@vintagesportsshack ROE is return on equity and its for shareholders and stocks. ROI is return on investment and yes there's a formula that compares the cost of something vs. the return. If you bought something for $100 and sold it for $200, the ROI would be 100%. If you can find something that says ROE is return on investment, yes I'll admit I'm wrong.
