BTW, his 15 wins over the last four seasons were from 2000-03. Matter of fact, he still won more races than anyone during that span. Tony Stewart was a close 2nd with 14 wins from 2000-03. On another note, as Jeff Gordon won 15 races between 2000-03, in that span, he was ranked 1st in Top5s, Top10s, points, average finish, & laps led. So either way, he was still kicking everyone’s butt despite those 15 wins from 2000-03.

Had it not being for the chase, Jeff Gordon would have been a 7 time champion easily sealing himself among the greatest drivers in NASCAR. I honestly doubt Jimmie Johnson would have brought the sport anywhere, he never raced against the past legends of the sport .The only reason he won 5 in a row plus seven championships was mostly because of the chase format.

@efan20114 жыл бұрын
Very much so.. I see Johnson maybe having 1 or 2 titles at least but nowhere near 7. He took off once they started changing the cars and not many had a grip on how they worked but Hendrick did and it was really a dire period for the circuit as Hendrick monopolized everything. Dumbest thing Jeff ever did was give Jimmie that ride with Rick. Once Jimmie took off Rick started mancrushing on Jimmie and that was that for Jeff. I see Jeff winning at least 2 more, maybe 3. 2004 he had a great year and it was his comeback year with a lot of great wins for him, and he flat out dominated in 2007 and was more consistent thsn Jimmie was with a crap pot load of top 10's. 2014 I think he could have as well.. that was his last great year. Brooke leaving Jeff was what really hurt him. It killed his ego and his passion and he wasn't the same in 2002 and 2003. On the brightside it made him a better guy and he found his real love eventually but it really hurt him in those years.
