World Cup Champions, South Africa, have won the Freedom Cup for the first time since 2009. The Springboks achieved that feat by beating New Zealand for a second consecutive time in the Rugby Championship, recording another hard-fought 18-12 victory at the Cape Town Stadium. The Freedom Cup is the minor trophy contested between South Africa and New Zealand during the Rugby Championship. The Springboks who have also all but clinched the Rugby Championship for the first time since 2019, scored the only tries of the match- through captain Siya Kolisi and replacement hooker, Malcolm Marx.
