I hope New Zealand know how much influence they have in rugby. I'm a 35 year old black man who grew up in a small town in Eastern Cape Province. We grew up performing the Haka in our townships in the late 90s early 2000s naming ourselves famous ABs players of that time. Why do people keep calling this all blacks phase a “rebuild” or the All Blacks are “down”…they literally were in the WC final Goddammit😂…they losing close games to the best team in the world that’s all, it’s no cause of concern on their end. Panic is when they start losing to Australia. Once the Boks and All Blacks consistently lose to Australia and Argentina that is when you should panic. Boks peak every decade, it’s no cause of concern. It’s just timing. 90’s, 000’s, 2010’s, 2020’s…every decade

As a neutral fan who loves the way the All Blacks play, I understand the team is going through a transitional phase. However, there are some glaring issues that haven’t been properly addressed since 2019. The main concern for me is player selection. The All Blacks seem to prioritize playmakers across the field, but what good are playmakers without first securing possession? The team struggles with crucial fundamentals like catching high balls from kickoffs, handling kicks from open play, executing kick chases and at critical times, lineouts. How often do we see the All Blacks score, only to immediately be under pressure on their own line from the next kickoff? Robertson needs to prioritize players who can secure the ball, so the All Blacks stop relying on scraps of possession. Another weakness is leadership. In the World Cup final, the team needed just 3 points to win-any 3 points. Most top-level teams in that situation, down by a point and with good field position, would have gone for a drop goal. Similarly, in the last quarter of the test at Ellis Park, the All Blacks had a penalty in a very kickable spot, but opted for a lineout they ended up losing. Had they taken the 3 points, it likely would have sealed the game. Here’s the team that I think Razor should field for the next match, with a view towards developing for the World Cup: 1.Ethan de Groot 2. Codie Taylor 3. Tyrel Lomax 4. Josh Lord 5. Sam Darry 6. Scott Barrett 7. Ardie Savea 8. Hoskins Sotutu 9. Cortez Ratima 10. Harry Plummer 11. Caleb Clarke 12. Jordie Barrett 13. Billy Proctor 14. Rieko Ioane 15. Zarn Sullivan 16. Tamaiti Williams 17. Asafo Aumua 18. Fletcher Newell 19. Tupou Vaai 20. Wallace Sititi 21. Nick Hotham 22. Will Jordan 23. Beauden Barrett The key is to secure possession first-everything else will follow from that foundation.

That first yellow card with SA taking out Ratima without the ball while running off Taylor’s shoulder 5 meters from the line could easily have been called a penalty try… But in the second half the wheels fell off for the ABs again. They should never have gone for that long range penalty… And just need to keep the dam ball in hand for more time instead of aimlessly kicking it away. Plus need some more development of our locks. We penalise ourselves and world rugby when we choose not to select our very best players, including those that are playing overseas. We only need to think about how we do this? Imho players that have played for the All Blacks for at least 3 full seasons should be free to play overseas without losing the benefit of being picked for the All Black team. Why hamstring ourselves by not doing what many other national teams do to their advantage? Why not reward the ABs that have played at least 3 full seasons in the AB playing team by allowing them to play overseas and maximise their earning potential in the small window they do have, without losing the opportunity to continue playing for the All Blacks?? It has a two fold benefit. When the 3 year old ABs inevitably go overseas it opens up Super Rugby spots for the young bucks to fill and prove themselves. The AB players overseas get the benefit of greater earning potential and being exposed to overseas styles of play strengthening our rugby intelligence. Can we change anything to make our domestic game more competitive, and ensure the best possible players are in the playing team at all times? We have a small population with limited resources. Kiwi's were traditionally known for being fair, practical, and innovative. Just my 2 cents worth.
