Glad you reacted to this song! It has a special personal meaning for me in that at one time I was an underground miner and was recovering from a rock fall that tore up my left knee. The orthopedic surgeon that operated on me was skeptical of how well I would recover. I used this song as motivation during my rehab and totally surprised that doctor. He did a great job and so did all of the physical therapists who helped me.

In the 80s this was played endlessly in the charts shows that I used to watch on Saturdays before dinner. Fond memories. And it's still an amazing song. It's such a catchy tune. Always on my Playlist and on my MP3 Player. My sister still got this on vinyl from the 80s. Oh, and I love the video.

This is the US video of the song. They had released a UK video that goes along with the lyrics of the song that would make more sense on the meaning. This version is a sports blooper homage. Still a great video, but if you want more clarity on the meaning of the song, check out the UK version.

Agreed. The original British video to this is much more meaningful in the context of the lyrics, and has a touch of humour with the various passersby as the busker plays. It's at kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmaYfJqbhMaUpLs

Ah ..the 80's head and wrist bands for show lol. I graduated high school in 85, what a time to be alive. Sports gear was one thing, then "work out" videos and just wearing these items became the norm , girls more than boys but you might see them anywhere just because lol. Love this song (as with all of their music) another big radio hit for sure. Not as much "one man" guitar show from Mark but the harmony's and voice was on point as expected. Keep rocking you 2 :)

It brings back fond memories and also the old Houston Oilers before they became the Tennessee Titans! In general it’s one of favorite Dire Straits songs! 🏈🤘🙏🏻

I’m not a big sports head, but that keyboard reminds me of the Organ player at a Yankees game. Or something like that. Like I don’t remember if I heard this at a game, but it sounds like the music I would hear at a game. In between innings, I’m thinking of baseball, of course. Even though the lyrics don’t match, it’s still the same. That boy can play.

Walk Of Life, although popular, is probably the least Dire Straits' sounding song. The 80s were a time when a lot of bands did this. They went mainstream straying away from their sound from the 70s, and many fans of these bands criticized these bands as "selling out".
