This is just an observation. When any athlete in Britain is caught drug cheating, he is despised and completely loses public respect. I get the impression that Americans think drug cheating is perfectly fine as long as they don't get caught. Personally I think any cheating with certain drugs, steroids and IPO for example should be an immediate life time ban. Less serious offences should be treated accordingly. There was a British skier a few years ago who won a bronze, it was taken away from him because he was taking an over the counter medication that had a slightly different formula than in the UK. That is different, everyone felt so sorry for him. But rules are rules and you can not have exceptions. I felt really sorry for Ben Johnson when he was used by his management and coaching team. He was hardly Einstein and they abused him. Hope Solo is beautiful, but the one thing I hate hearing sports people say is "this necklace is worth more than you earn in a year" and similar statements. Would they have the cheek to say similar to a doctor who has just saved three lives in A&E. Cheeky bitch.

One of Hope's teammates said something to the affect of her being banned/ terminated was a lifetime achievement award more than about comments made. I know someone that interactted with her and other athletes in a professional role over a several year span, and was told she was a very nasty person both to others and her team and not just verbally. They said they had never met anyone who had ever been more unwomanly than her. When your own team openly doesn't like you, won't eat with you, won't fly with you, you consistently berate your coaches,mentors and veterans of your sport at some point you need to look inward because maybe everyone else isn't the problem. Its a shame really because there's no denying her dominance of her sport and it's largely overshadowed by her off field nonsense. I hope she learns one day that people see through the facade and the banter, all the hate and anger and tough unafraid talk about not caring or needing friends in a lie she's actually telling you what she does need and want she just uses attitude to hide it like she chooses to be the bad guy.

If you make your team masseuse carry your testosterone, and then bad-mouth her in the media, that's not in seconds. That's ruining a career through years of planning, conspiracy, and cover-up. Solo is getting old and national team is looking to replace her and the remark against the Swedes gave them the reason they needed. The victory in 2015 for World Cup for females was marked by a lot of problems and embarassment and team needed to take control over team and Hope Solo was the scapegoat that they needed.

The U.S Women's Soccer Team doesn't have a particularly good reputation abroad but Hope Solo just kind of took the cake for me always. Even for a sport known for it's dramatic players in a position that seems to produce some of the most dramatic and impassioned she's more than a little over the top. The domestic baggage and feuding with teammates while being critical of them and having a hard time accepting criticism thing doesn't help much either. It's all a shame cause that teams talent genuinely speaks for itself but is often overshadowed by it's behavior both internally and towards other teams. Anyway I'm pretty sure pro sports teams don't really give a shit about what you look like so much as what you do for the team or not but when has the internet ever had any perspective on anything. Like if she had just not done all the drama and crazy behavior she'd go down in history as the greatest female goalkeeper of all time as some have said hands down and that's how people would perceive her.
