Warning - this video contains reference to and imagery of brain dissection for the purposes of research. A full brain, in addition to brain sections, are depicted from 25:15 to 28:55. If you prefer not to view this content, we recommend pausing the webinar at 25:00 and skipping ahead to 29:00.
CLF and our research partners at the Boston University CTE Center are proud to introduce BANK CTE, a groundbreaking research study aiming to identify a biomarker profile unique to CTE, which could help scientists eventually diagnose the disease in living patients through a simple blood test.
Hosted by CLF CEO Dr. Chris Nowinski and featuring Dr. Michael Alosco and Dr. Thor Stein of the BU CTE Center, this webinar discusses the game-changing potential of a blood-based diagnostic for CTE and explains who is eligible to enroll in the study. Former Super Bowl champion Peter Cronan also joins us to share why he chose to participate in this crucial research effort.
Learn more about BANK CTE at www.bankcte.org.

When the brain matures to full size and ability, that is when the first signs of CTE show its' ugly face. Read somewhere, it is the first wave of symptoms and regarded as a psychiatric situation. My son began his journey at 25 y.o. with chemical abuse, 1st diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, and the list goes onward. Playing American full contact football since the age of 8 y.o. is probably the root cause? My thoughts and condolences are with you.

This was an exceptional Webinar, as are all that are offered by the Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF). I cannot register fast enough when a Webinar is offered. I feel rather intimidated when speaking to my medical supports about suspected CTE. I appreciated Dr. Nowinski’s acknowledgement that we have to educate our physicians about the disease. That way, our medical supports better understand the root of the anxiety, depression, impulse control issues, executive disfunction, etc., that the prescribed medications are trying to control. Mick

I played football for 15 years, from flag in Kindergarden to my jr year of hs, as well as wrestling from 7th to jr year (5 years). I am 26 right now and have had 7 concussions so far in my life from sports and just life. I have regular issues wuth memory anddeveloped depression after number 4 or 5. I really wish tgere was a way to do this research in a younger patient such as myself as well.

Have any studies been done to see if CTE could also be linked to brain radiation therapy due to cancer treatments?
@ConcussionLegacyFoundation

There have not been any studies investigating this. The current research tells us CTE is linked to repetitive head impacts.
