Tkachuk should be embarrassed. Fake crawling off the ice like that to try and get rid of Tampa’s best player just to come back a few minutes later is something I’d expect from a European U-14 soccer team. It also reflects poorly on Paul Maurice for allowing that sort of behavior on his team.

Also, Tampa Bay won a “true” cup 20 years before Florida even did and got to 5 cup finals before Florida even made a second one. They will always be little brother, Tampa has been the drastically better franchise for most of their existence. Also, Tampa proved their back-to-back cups weren’t a fluke by making it back to the finals against Colorado after the COVID seasons and would have three-peated if not for Point’s injury.

One of the many differences between the two Florida teams, the Lightning are in a hockey city with fans that actually care about the game. During the last game it was loud in the stands until the final buzzer. While for the Panthers after they start losing, even by one, you can hear crickets in the building. By the third period, the stands looked like the panthers were back to a few years ago. Once the panthers start losing again they’ll go back to having a solid 20 fans. Meanwhile even in the most recent year the Lightning missed the playoffs, 2017, the Lightning sold out every home game.
