I love hockey, and the Red Wings, in that order. These playoffs have been spectacular so far; the OT's, the grinding, and the ref's, for the most part, invisible. 50+ years of hockey and it never gets old. The only way to cap this season in a game 7 3 OT final. I know I won't raise the cup myself, but I'm winning just getting to watch. Looking forward to the Wings getting back in the mix, but if not.......by god, I'm still enjoying hockey.

Edmonton series had a way different dynamic with high point games and yes beating 2 of the best players is a big boost in confidence. But this is a low scoring series and Vegas was #1 in wins by 1 goal which = CLUTCH. Go Knights Go!

Just before the late equalizer. No need to play behind the goal, just clear the zone and go home with a 1-1 - serie. It was a totally unnecessery gift that will prove expensive for Dallas. It is hard to come back against Vegas from two down. I`d go for tar and feathers for that, benching is not enough.

Earlier during the game there always is the balance between the safe plays and beating the fore check with a puck possession. Short handed play of course more difficult situation.

@KroDuk Oettinger had no chance on that save. The Vegas player didn't make contact with him, and did not impede his movement. Oettinger made *no* attempt to move to the space occupied by the Vegas player. If you think that in any way qualifies as interference, then you don't know much about hockey, or how the game is called. In order for there to be goaltender interference on that play, Oettinger would have had to have attempted to move into the space occupied by the Vegas player (Howden) while the puck was still in place (i.e. not already behind the goal line). Since he doesn't do that, there is no impediment, and therefore no interference.

@@zerializing while we agree there is no interference on that play, your assessment of the goalie's positioning, and what it means under the rules isn't accurate. Whether the goalie is inside the crease or outside the crease, no player may impede his ability to play his position. The primary difference is that outside the crease, contact deemed to be incidental, is allowed. Inside the crease, under the rules, incidental contact is supposed to nullify a goal (though it is not always called this way for "some reason"). But, the goalie "leaving the crease" does not "open the crease" up to everyone else. This is because, in the NHL at least, the crease is technically always open for players to enter ... provided they do not impede the goalie's ability to play their position (see above).

@@mhicaoidh1 You're absolutely correct. The crease is open for all players to play the puck as long as the goalie is not impeded or deliberate contact is made. In the replay we can see Howden does not make contact with the goaltender and if anything, avoids contact at the perimeter of the crease. Apologies for the misinformation. The point was if the Stars G had stayed in the crease they may have had the ability to challenge for contact although we have seen in this series where even that is subjective, see Blueger Goal. Game 1. Thanks for your thorough explanation.

Out of that : -Then you have Robin Lehner on LTIR since last summer, taking 5M. -Same with Nolan Patrick, on LTIR almost since the beginning of the season, taking 1.2M -Laurent Brossoit injured since the Oilers series is on LTIR and takes 2.3M. -Add to that Logan Thompson that is nearing a return, he takes 0.77M Total : 9.27M So, not on the ice, but salary paid are : Phil Kessel (1.5M), Pavel Dorofyev (0.925M), Paul Cotter (0.76M), Michael Amadio (0.76M), Ben Hutton (0.85M), Brayden Pachal (0.75M) And you have Jonathan Quick that makes 2.9M and hasn't started a single playoffs game, nor came in relief of any. He's only been acquired because the Knights had so many injured goalies and still do. Total : 8.45M So basically, had the Knights not gone for Jonathan Quick and Teddy Blueger at the deadline, they would be under the salary cap of 82.5M, but it was absolutely necessary they added a goalie with Thompson, Hill and Brossoit all injured at the trade deadline. The only case I would make is that Blueger shouldn't play, since the Knights are currently about 400K above the cap when you substract LTIR and Quick... Highway robbery, I know, right ? Nothing like Tampa being 18M over the cap with only Gaborik on LTIR...

The fact that we're still dealing with missed calls leading to goals in the conference finals is just perfect for this league haha! There should be a way to challenge that goal. It's a high sticking penalty that, if called correctly, would stop the play due to Dallas possession.

@@jon8004 I totally agree. Play till the whistle is blown. But take the Leafs/Panthers game 5. If there was a way to challenge a goal based on a penalty leading directly to a goal, similar to goaltender interference, I think it would be good for the game.

Dallas lost 4 overtime games in the entire playoffs so far..G1 lost to Minnesota ...G1 lost to Seattle G1 & 2 to Vegas,,,that's insane,,can't wait for the next match lol
