A great balanced-scoring win for the 'Canes. That penalty shot from Kuzy was laser. I couldn't even see the puck. I loved the way he took his time with that shot, basically telling Varlomov, 'It's coming, it's coming' it's about to happen'! Speaking of Varlomov, I do feel bad for him after that 5th goal. It was a very bad bounce that no one could have done anything about. It was just bad luck for him.

Good riddance to the Islanders.. they had the fewest wins (39) for any play off team, two lesser than Red Wings(41) and four lesser than the St Louis Blues (43) both of whom didn't make the playoffs The Islanders are there only because the NHL rewards losing in overtime.. it doesn't matter if you won more games against the other teams as long as the other teams have more OT losses...a crappy policy to say the least Red Wings vs Hurricanes may have been more competitive.

I am merely pointing that the NHL is the only professional league that awards losing in OT games and does not award winners enough. No body gets a point for losing an OT game in football or basketball or losing an extra inning game in baseball The Islanders have a losing record and are only in the play offs because they lost more games in OT than Detroit - that to me is encouraging mediocrity. Florida and Boston have exactly one point separating them - even though Florida has 5 more wins than the Bruins in the regular season. If the Bruins had lost two more of their games in OT they would have home ice advantage over Florida - even though the Panthers have 5 more wins and 5 fewer losses than Boston - only in the Gary Betteman NHL clown world would this insanity/mediocrity be appreciated and awarded
