To say the Oilers are not getting scoring from the bottom isn't quite true. Dallas 10th in scoring has 4 points - Edmonton's 10th has 3 pts. Where the real difference is, Edmonton's top level scorers have twice the points of Dallas's top guy's.
@travelbyfire84745 ай бұрын
Your comment got me thinking, and I couldn't help myself but dive deeper. I think there is a clear difference between Stars forwards and Oilers. The 10th and 11th scorers for both teams are only 1 point apart, but there are 4 defensemen in the top 11 for Edmonton, only 1 for Dallas. Scoring % by defensemen: Edmonton: 27.34% Dallas: 20.75% Goals by top 3 forwards: Edmonton: 25 - 65.79% Dallas: 15 - 45.45% Difference: 7 - 20.33% Points by top 3 forwards: Edmonton: 65 - 64.36% Dallas: 34 - 40.96% Difference: 31 - 23.39% Forwards with a goal: Edmonton: 10 Dallas: 13 Forwards with 2 assists or more: Edmonton: 6 Dallas: 12 So a few thoughts: - Edmonton's defensemen get a lot of assists and more goals, I am guessing due to their exposure to the top end Edmonton talent but I haven't watched them closely enough to say - Edmonton's top 6 is pretty insane - Edmonton's bottom 6 is not as good as Dallas, but they are better defensively than given credit - Dallas has exceptional balance in their scoring lines - Dallas played a much better defensive team in the first round, which lead to 6 less goals scored in the first round compared to Edmonton with 2 more games played

Waddell isn't the problem in Carolina, it's megalomaniac Dudon. Acting out of spite is fun and games until it blows up in your face.

Why do you say that? I mean he's been willing to spend, invest, what's he doing that's so bad. Canes are better off as an organization than they have been in a while?

He made Waddell offer sheet KK to get even with the clown Bergevin for accidentally helping extend Aho to a good contract by doing all the work involved. Problem was it backfired, even Bergevin was smart enough not to match even if he wasted the 1st pick on Dvorak. Extending Jesperi too long for too much he made the Carolina salary cap problem worse. Now the talent deserving of new deals will be thinned out, can't keep all their good young RFAs.

Not game 5 - Oilers were pretty much owned by the Canucks (I think more than just Ek and McD were sick). I called an Oilers series win after game 5 much to the chagrin of Canuck fans. Why? That was easily the best game of the playoffs, if not the entire season, played by the Canucks. Oilers played like crap - and Vcr needed a goal with 36 seconds left to beat them. That was pretty sad

The double minor penalty is a situation that has to be fixed. Too many times we see players getting 4 minutes for an accidental clip. Originally, the high sticking penalty was doled out in situations where a player genuinely had his stick too high. Now, it happens too often, usually because the game is faster. The NHL went from no head protection to helmets to visors. It's time to start the process of putting full face shields on players, phased in like helmets were phased in.. This will eliminate penalties for accidental clips. High sticking can still be called, but it will be a much clearer call. NFL players wear better head protection and the speed is less. Why are we living in the past? BTW. I think the hockey gods stepped in for McDavid ... karma.
@GFY_FS5 ай бұрын
Gotta be in control of your stick at all times. Accidental or not. McDavid would be in the box for that high stick regardless, even with a cage cause a high stick is a high stick
@monicaarisman42935 ай бұрын
@@GFY_FS And, Duchene should have been in the box for holding McDavid's stick. Bad ref'ing last night and I usually don't criticize the refs because it's a very difficult job.
@mrquirky36265 ай бұрын
@@monicaarisman4293 Remember, the refs missed McDavid's high stick too. It was the linesman that actually called it once the play stopped. Rules allow linesmen to notify the refs about high sticking fouls but not holding the stick.
@mrquirky36265 ай бұрын
That high stick also knocked Duchene out of the game for 3 minutes of game time to get repairs to his face. NHL has a rule that if you're cut and bleeding you have to leave the ice for as long as it takes to stop the bleeding. If you hurt a player enough that they have to spend time not being able to play then shouldn't that be worth more than just a 2 minute penalty?

Where do you come out on this - do you even watch 'mcdiver' play. You think he gets all his points by 'flopping"? You do realize we want him to dive more because he knows he can create a scoring chance with EVERY rush - but guess what? He can't if he's 'diving' and laying on the ice. You must be a canuck fan - a total of TWO penalties drawn by McD in the series, and JT MIller was allowed to bear hug him all the way down the ice - and who cried to the officials when his stick was grabbed at the end - immediately? Yep JT Miler. Give it a rest and watch a game for once to see what he goes through - then get back to me on all his dives.
