I'm gonna buck the trend of complaining about the game, I thought it was great to see it held in a hockey town for a change and the fact it was in the biggest hockey market on the planet helped in a big way! Got to see some amazing players that don't get enough exposure for casual fans like Forsberg and Debrincat... Goalies were amazing and overall one of the better all star games in quite a few years. For those worried about 3/3 play, they don't hit when it's 5/5 so may as well enjoy the wide open shinny concept. If I had to pick one negative, I think Kuch is one of the best players in the game, but was disappointed to see how he gave up on some of the skills comps and didn't really see much during the game he was in. I'm sure a few Tampa fans would've appreciated a better effort.

The last time that happened there were six teams in the league. You can see why building a team of all stars from 5 teams, and putting them against the best existing team, made sense as opposed to creating two teams made up of 1/3 of the league's best players. With 32 teams, it makes a lot more sense to create two teams of all stars rather than putting them all on one team and having them play a team that is determined to be the best of 32. I haven't watched the All-star game in years, it got very lame. But here's my take aways: NHL is still recovering after covid shutdown, so they put ads on jerseys and now take this game to a traditional hockey market where they can make tons of money, make it about the game, and not some lame fluff piece where hockey is rarely news. NHL is mismanaged on many levels, but they actually did this right. That said, I'm glad it's gone for a bit.

​@@justburnerratically keller makes 7.15 for the next 4 seasons after this one. a steal for someone producing a point per game in arizona. matthews has always liked him, they know each other well, and the chemistry between them tonight was undeniable. matthews hasn't had a solid LW since Hyman. tavares' contract ends next season. he either takes a hometown for 6-7 or he's gone. at best dealt as a rental. those savings added with the cap increase, overall cap% hit with keller will end up even or better by the end of next season regardless of whether tavares stays or goes. if you could trade tavares for three years of keller you'd do it in an instant. you might even be able to have both for basically the same cap% as tavares' 11m right now by next year's free agency period. stop looking 5feet in front of you like the rest of the "fans" and look at the bigger picture. yes the leafs need better defence. but if the opportunity to upgrade for the same or better money presents itself in a hard cap system, you take it no matter what or you're a moron. it's all assets. good contracts are much easier to trade for other good players.
