As a British fan I've gotta say I know Montreal lost this game but my word they must be 1 of , if not the noisiest crowd in the NHL. When they roar the place goes ballistic & it makes me think their arena is not mostly populated by suits & businessmen like certain other teams? good win for the Devils but the Habs picked up another important point.

That is why i don't think they'll make the Playoffs. The first part of their year was too awful. At this point, to make the Playoffs and go far, they would have to pull another miracle like St-Louis did when they wan their Stanley Cup. Is that fair or realistic to ask that? Of course not. The Suzuki-Caufield combo for the Canadiens is, of course, very creative and dangerous. I'm watching Laine play, he's very passive in defense, he skates on straight legs, and he's reluctant to fight. In overtime, the goal came after his inaccurate pass to Matheson, look how Laine acted after losing the puck, Matheson fought with two opponents until the end, while Laine slowly skated to his zone on straight legs.

It's funny some people still think after all these years that Laine would play defense. Not gonna happen, pure goal scorer nothing more.

While he clearly might not be the best two-way forward, Laine mentioned that he’s still not back at 100%. Remember that he got an injury that could have ended his season, but he managed to get back. Clearly he wanted to play, and it’s better to have him in the roster than not, even if that means he’s not going to skate hard.

@@Thomas_667 A pure scorer should generate more points against the opposing team than the team allows against them. Laine's statistics are pretty good in Montreal right now, but his plus/minus numbers have been sharply negative in recent years.

Look, I’ll take the two points, but I don’t like how acquiescent the Devils get when they’re up multiple goals. This game should’ve been put away in regulation, and the fact that opponents have more fire in their belly than they do is aggravating. Fix up the loose ends and move forward. LFGD

@ Meier pass the puck then cut his trajectory to shoulder Matheson. Good for NJ and all, but just not seeing how it’s not: - “Interferes with or impedes the progress of an opponent, who is not in possession of the puck,” - “Players of the team in possession of the puck may not run deliberate interference for the puck carrier.” Puck being “just there” doesn’t seem to matter. Anyway, no game was stolen here and it makes sense if we say that OT is looser on rules.
