Why would my main shaft nut. The one on the clutch side. The nut and shaft are spinning together

Very good video: But i thought it is a very big NO NO to put the springplate back in the clutch . Because it is a big problem when the plate brake in two parts after some time. A common problem .

He is suggesting that while you had the clutch plates out that you should have replaced the OEM plates with an extra plate clutch pack to replace the dreaded grenade plate (rivetted plate in the centre of the plates). I hope my explanation makes sense haha

@knoble moto can u tell me where the other cable that plugs into the regulator/rectifier goes to not the coming from stator but the other cable that goes to regulator/rectifier. im building a chopper and only have the stator cable! thanks

It goes to the battery. It’s nice if you can run it through a relay, but not necessary.

Do you do the clutch while replacing the stator like doing the water pump when doing a timing belt?

No. It’s not that in depth that if you do one, you do the other. I just did it while I was in there, and for the video content. At 15k the clutch is probably still good. But there is no way to tell without taking it apart and measuring the disks.

What would happen if I turned the clutch nut to the left with a impact not knowing it was reversed thread

Either the clutch would slip, or you will need a new input shaft for your transmission

Ops, never use a screwdriver to get covers off #?@!. Use a soft rubber hammer & tap them sideways. I have worked on many old bikes, which leaked oil due to this practice ! 🤪🔧🇬🇧. Saves work in the long run, having to lap cases !

You’re right. In this case it’s not like the screwdriver was hitting a machined surface. But in general, screwdrivers are a no no 😂

I mean, you would have to drive the screw driver in there pretty far since the rubber seal is in the inside about 2.5+ inches lol
