I've had many messages on this video. It's important to understand that trimming full nose up is NOT the same as full elevator up. The trim tab at maximum deflection doesn't cause the elevator to move to its maximum deflection. Getting the elevator to its maximum deflection requires the pilot to pull the yoke all the way back...which no one should ever do in an engine out situation!

Great short videos. Thank you, Spencer. Another tip I learned from a fellow check pilot (Rob Lewis) using a Cessna 172 S G1000 with the GFC 700 auto pilot was to use the auto pilot FLC button to lock in the "best glide speed", that procedure also free's up the pilot to look for a landing spot, squawk 7700, and talk on the radio (121.5) if not already talking to ATC and declare an emergency. Broadcast your approximate location if landing off airport. And remember Bob Hoover's famous advice, "fly the airplane all the way into the crash as slow as possible"!

Spencer was my first aerobatic instructor. Great pilot, mediocre sense of humor. Kidding aside, you'll love flying with him and learn A lot. Highly recommend booking some time with him.

I have been obsessed with these videos! I would love to fly in one and see the experience first hand! Not sure if that will happen! But these videos are a good substitute!

Just finish my tailwheel endorsement in a super decathlon, super fun plane to fly and much more responsive compared with typical 172.

the first pilot to ever come out of a "death" spin was asked how he got out of it and he essentially said that he thought well i'm dead now so screw it i'm just going to get this over with and pushed the controls forward into a dive and that is what got him out of it. the angle of attack was thus discovered!
