It’s not always easy for pilots to admit when they’re feeling a bit rusty, but it happens to all of us. Join the instructional staff at Sporty’s Academy for a flying refresher to include flying tips and techniques, regulations, airspace, weather and more!
And if you’ve been away from flying for an extended period of time, we’ll also debunk some of those myths associated with rejoining the aviation community and highlight what may have changed since you last flew.
Please join us to brush up on your aviation knowledge and return to the skies a safer, more proficient pilot.

I've done a dozen cross countries between California and Florida. I always use flight following. It is very nice; not just in congested areas, but in isolated areas. It is nice to know someone is watching when flying over desolated areas, where you nee nothing but desert below.

PERFECT! Exactly what I needed to keep back in the seat. 9 years out of flying and I'm ready to get my flights skills back.

How did it go. Did you require additional training?

They say for every year away from the stick you need an hour of flight time and a half hour of ground.

@@Keys879 Wow! That means that when I'm getting back in the air after last PIC in 1998, I'm going to immediately start working on Instrument Rating!!! ;-)

Great video. I'd like to see an update version with more emphasis on GPS, ADS-B and newer technology in the cockpit and cockpit integration.

I haven't flown in so long. I had a baby. So this is so helpful. I'm listening to this while he's asleep.

Great webinar guys, thanks! I am an ASEL, Multi, Instrument, & Commercial rated pilot; however, I've been out of the cockpit for 9 years. My medical is current and I look forward to getting back in the left seat as soon as possible. I've kept my armchair flying proficient... :) as well as, the use of my iPad Mini, Foreflight, etc... Read IFR Refresher, iPadPilotNews.com, Sportys, AOPA, etc... almost daily. Thanks for the webinar. Good Stuff ! Regards, Kerry

Nice video. I got back to flying after a 17 year break. I've got a series of videos documenting my return to currency. I've gotten nice feedback from rusty pilots who said it helped inspire them.

I got my commercial back in 2010 and I quit flying for a few years. Passed an instrument IPC back in Oct and got recurrent again in April so I obviously still have some knowledge. But I'm bout to go do some regional airline interviews and I' nervous my knowledge might be light for them. Looking to build some confidence.

Michael Barrett sounds familiar Mike! My exact story to the year. Kids stopped my flying career. No regrets, but ready for a career change....again. Good luck

My biggest takeaway from this is that if fail my FAA physical, I can still be a (sport) pilot. That's a relief.

Very informative video! I do have one question for clarification: When crossing one runway to take off at another, do you turn on your landing light to cross one then turn it back off, leaving the other lights on for departure?

for Non-Towered I do everything I can to remain visible, especially when communicating is not required. If its towered I leave it off until I reach my runway since tower is clearing me.

I remember... while I was a student pilot, my CFI took off with very little fuel on board but was staying in pattern. Was this still legal ? Environment was class D and clear daytime.

Romy Kim so long as there are 30 minutes of fuel on board when you do your final landing then it was legal. Maybe not the smartest thing but.....
