Those big bucks don't get big by fighting other bucks a bunch they know they can risk a puncture and die so honestly a grunt or rattle in most cases from my experiences will spook them away. The younger ones though tend to be more curious they come to investigate but the. Older 6 7 8 year olds just turn away and slip out.

Come to think of it, the few instances where I had a dominant buck in sight, he did not come closer from a grunt or wheeze so maybe. Then again these old bucks might be able to discern a fake call too?

@@songofthetrees579 maybe they can pin point the noise too if they hear it up high from a tree they know ain't no deer in a tree and there aint no hill over there either lol. I'm not saying they haven't fought ever but in their more mature years they don't want to really risk a Puncture and what not they know fighting could kill them.
