Spot Prawn Area 11 Season Opener 2024

I headed out with my wife for the spot prawn area 11 season opener in Puget Sound. In this video we tried an new spot prawn spot in area 11.

Yeah, I was talking with a fellow angler and we were thinking the cloud on the screen may have been coonstripes, which would fall through the mesh of the spot prawn trap. Im going to go back to that area with a coonstripe pot and investigate sometime.

You got a great setup for it. Too bad the new spot wasn't putting out limits. 8-2 is putting out lots from what I've seen. I went to salsbury boat launch on shrimp day (I didn't know it was) and couldn't launch my boat there were so many people out there shrimping. I had no idea how popular it was. 👍

I missed the first opener due to work (that 4 letter word), but I’ll be in 300 feet off Orcas in Area 7 West. Great video!

Yeah, we all have to do that 4 letter word at times. 😆 Area 7 is the best spot to shrimp, in my opinion. You will do great!

If you ask me, it's better than going to Hood canal and dealing with all the stress of launching your boat.

Yeah, there was no stress launching at Pt. Defiance and I literally found my own spot with no other boats.

Nice video Jerry Mr piscatorian I never tried area 11 but I did hoodcanal I do good there but the night mare of getting out of the water it’s nuts sometimes it takes hours I think next time I will try it here next to home

Yeah, I've done the hood canal once, and it took forever to get the boat out.

Where did you get the hose reel?

Called the crustacean coiler. Bought it from sportco in fife Wa. They have 2 spool size small will do 400ft or the large will do 800ft. I have the large. You can buy extra spiols too.

you are pretty shallow

Yeah in the past we found them shallow in area 11 and I was marking a cloud but after seeing the horrible results I think those might have been coonstripe I was marking so I moved deeper to 220 which proved better. That is the crappy part of a 4 hour window. You don't get much time to explore different depths. One reason I prefer area 7.
