I love all this. I'm 63 years old. When I was a kid, I expected flying cars and robots to do all my chores by now. Am I disappointed?Yes, but what a privilege to be alive to witness the development for future generations. When you hear all the issues that have to be overcome for the likes of spot to be realistically useful, it makes you realise how amazing a human being is. All of which we take for granted. Thanks, guys, for all the work you are putting in.

The _Wet Floor_ sign made me realize a possibly more tedious task: teaching Spot how to read, and then use the meaning of the words as new data to adapt its walking pattern to be more careful traveling on a new surface condition.

It's not just read written Words. Some signs are entirely geometric forms, or pictograms. There are also 'barriers' us humans put up temporarily. Imagine two poles with a chain between them. I wonder if there is in there, some sort of adaptive A* algorithm for path planning, augmented by this semantic vision technology. Another thing I wonder is how much in the robot's efficiency and stability is derived from force feedback on its limbs, and not solely on the balance of its centre of mass. Huimans benefit greatly from force feedback on just about every part of their body, as well as on the tactile ability to gauge surfaces by their micro-texture and temperature. Blind humans can still walk around and grab objects, because of this. Lastly, acoustic feedback, while marginal, nevertheless helps us gauge the size of the space we're in, and especially how close we are to a boundary. I think a perfect robot would integrate a myriad senors ; now to be cost-effective, you'd have to imagine multi-functional sensors that are literally embedded in some sort of skin, to supplement, those who sense at the joints, and from the "head".

@Purple11011Күн бұрын
I wonder how far off it is to have spot remember and avoid obstacles. This video implied that Spot must be told, for example, standing on carts is bad. But what if it didn't know that, tried step across one, failed to, but was able to troubleshoot why it failed, and take note to avoid carts. I imagine it would need to be able to take note of objects in it's surrounding, even ones it can't see, and remember them for a while. Or have some ability to "recall" things. Like some kind of instant replay; if it falls, the AI can go over the last couple of seconds of footage to try to determine what caused Spot to fall, and add it to the list of things to avoid. I feel like this is definitely possible, but I'm not sure exactly how it could be done or how practical it is.
