I am both the artist and the label in my case. Too many services are hidden and the curator functions are unbelievably biased. We need more access to speak with human beings at Spotify.

@@Writtenmirror its all about business now. If you want number's just pour a lot of money 💰 or just sit on faith while the biggies just multiply nonsense! ( basically direct contact will also not be a solution ) so its only a matter of time while the real art will get vanished.

$10k is barely enough to cover the cost of making an album. 55k artists out of 11 million barely recouping costs. That is not even half a percent of artists on Spotify able to break even from recording costs, let alone make a decent living. This is starvation wages and exploitation of labor. I have spoken to Spotify employees, who think they are making the world a better place by making music accessible for $120 a year. I get it, a job is a job. Meanwhile 99.5% of artists on Spotify don't break even on recording costs and all are literally paid starvation wages and have zero benefits for their dedication. I watched the whole video for an explanation of why Spotify only pays artists 0.0038 cents per stream, but there was none.

Waiting to see how Gala music will work. They are claiming they will pay artists more for streams, people will be able to buy nfts of your music as well ad stream them and it's completely decentralized. You should check it out.

Let's be honest, all artist don't deserve to make a living. I wish Spotify had a filter that took down garbage music that way real musicians would get more attention

As an independent Artist and self publisher this 'MasterClass' was a waste of my time ! Am not yet ticketing or selling merch , am only relying on Streams so 1. Improve the pay per stream 2. Support Upcoming artist Cause it seems you only care about the Artist with Big Numbers !

I'd love to hear any of the improvement on the CURATOR PLAYLISTS. I've tried a few times to get on a spotify playlist with my electronic music, however I am not even sure I was heard by your curator. A minimum feedback from the curator would be nice too, an option to precisely point out which playlist my song would fit in would be even better. This could help emerging artists a lot - really, a lot.

How I plan to make money from music is firstly to have a home Studio setup (-5000 💲) then make awsome music 🥳and to get an above average monthly salary just from Spotify I need at least 600 thousand streams to earn 3.150💲per month before tax. If I don't get at least 9 000 streams per day I then need to do more than just music maybe even start selling merch or do some KZbin stuff to gain more tracktion. 📈....long way to go. I'm just plannig to release 5 or more new songs this year and keep the pace up because I keep writing songs like a train and can't keep up with mixing and stuff so I have 80 songs I want to release but it's gonna take time.....

I'm in this same way of thinking and am really relying and trusting on making high quality music first and foremost and having faith in that process of getting listeners whom appreciate good music with a good message!! Cheers my friend!!

All this blabla about how your fans should pay for the extra revenue (tips, merch, tickets etc) when they already have to pay the Spotify subscription fees makes me sick. Spotify should pay out 90% of the income back via/per stream...no matter how famous an artist is.

@meowzedong2 Жыл бұрын
@@BobbyJ529 just because because can actually buy your tracks/albums and you get most of the money (better percentage than itunes i believe, and there’s an option for the fan to pay more if they want to help support). i mean, if you’re already putting your music on all streaming platforms you might as well put it on there too. also for a while bandcamp was doing this thing where on certain days they waive the fees and the artists get 100% of the revenue but i’m not sure if that’s still going on

Big focus on promoting new artists but merch and live shows will do the exact opposite of that , Could have a new artist with garbage music yet a great marketing campaign strategy or new product they manufacture with industry connections will do much more than what you say you’re trying to accomplish with this grabby method makes it to really promote just based off the music if it’s good while people been dying off at live shows lately turn your streaming service into a store yet you don’t even pay close to other platforms what’s up with the algorithm is it about the music or the merchandise

This sounds like more ways for Spotify to make revenues off their "Prime the Pump" Artists and still no gateways for indies at the bottom. Pure sales pitch and no usable guidance. Minimum 15k streams to use a promo tool shows precisely Spotify's attitude towards indies. Payola scammers selling playlist position are ruining the ecology of promotion on Spotify and there are no means so far of correcting that. A pure business and sales attitude ruins art and its promotion. Buying merch is not a promotional tool. If I'm buying merch off an Artist I'm already following them and like their music. How about finding ways for artists to actually connect with fans? For example: demonstrating parts of their creative/production process or sharing their own reviews of their fave artists?

The only way artist will make more money from Spotify is if they PAY MORE PER STREAM! This is not that complicated... It’s clear that fans are willing to pay for music, we know this. Spotify is just playing middleman and divvying up the money heavily in their favor... To put in perspective how much extra money there is, just think about how often you bought a CD for $10....maybe once, twice a year. Now people are paying that monthly for Spotify premium. Basically buying a new album every month The problem is we have billboard charting artist on the same platform as upcoming independent artist and even literal beginners, who in most cases pay more to distribute their music than they’ll ever make from it. It’s sad but the only way I think things will change is if people leave Spotify. Period. They have no other reason to change their business model

So you've partnered only with Shopify (a paid service) for artists to sell merch? "Hmmm. How can we bleed some more money from our Artists?... Hello, Shopify? Wanna help us lock our Artists into more ways to pay money? " 😂

Its really a shame you call this 'Spotify FOR artists' when in fact its 'Spotify VERSUS artists'. How about AT LEAST the possibility to sell merch for free on Spotify? And not using Shopify to squeeze even more money out of artists in the already harsh enough covid times with no gigs? Have some decency
@BrittanyAnjouMusic

Exactly. They have done zero for artists aside from the PR stunt of giving a few million to MusiCares to throw peanuts at a few artists through a competitive application process at the beginning of the pandemic (requiring artists have SIX MUSIC VIDEOS TO QUALIFY FOR - ONLY TOP FOUR MAJOR LABEL ARTISTS HAVE THE MONEY TO PRODUCE SIX MUSIC VIDEOS). NOT TO MENTION A FEW MILLION IS NOTHING compared to their 7 BILLION ANNUAL REVENUE. But like, nice job on Spotify’s UX design team for the fancy graphic slides in Figma for almost fooling us into thinking they have decency.

I understand that spotify has payed out more money to independent artists than ever...but didn't the pandemic have much to do with new found success, as more people were home during that time, and doesn't that mean stream counts will once again drop due to ending of the pandemic?
