Tina Rainford (* 25 December 1946 in Berlin as Christa Zalewski) is a German singer. Her career began at the age of five, when she performed for American soldiers. In 1962, she took part in a talent competition at the Radio Exhibition in Berlin and won. A record deal and her first album under the stage name Peggy Peters followed, albeit with still quite modest success.
Tina Rainford was not only a solo artist. With her first husband Peter Rainford and musician Norman Ascot, she formed the trio P.T.N. (Pete, Tina, Norman) and with the singers Charlotte Marian and Monika Grimm she performed under the band name "The Sweetles".
However, she celebrated her greatest success in the mid-1970s with the album "Silverbird", which she recorded in collaboration with her long-time friend and mentor Drafi Deutscher. The English-language version even gained attention in the American country charts.
Spotlight was a music programme for young people broadcast by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) between 1968 and 1978. It was the equivalent of Beat Club or Musikladen in Germany.
