you don"t need a resistor inline if the ALT light is inline- the lamp has enough resistance. If you hook the "S" wire up to a 12V common junction instead of the alternator,it will compensate for voltage drop when accessories, lights, etc. are turned on. I have that same alternator and get 14.5V consistently wired that way. Nice bracket mod, Rob.

If you have trouble with belt slippage, I'd recommend upgrading to the serpentine setup found on the Vortec 4.3L, 5.0L, and 5.7L. I'm pretty sure that alternator will bolt right on. Grab both brackets and power steering pump with pulley and all hardware from a Vortec truck. Then grab a water pump with pulley and a crank pulley from a TBI truck. The crank pulley may actually be the same between the TBI and the Vortec. I don't remember for sure, but I know the TBI pulley works. Use the pressure fitting from your original power steering pump on the new pump. The Vortec setup can be used without air conditioning. It has a provision for an idler pulley on the left side bracket. The idler pulley is the same as the tensioner pulley. I don't remember if the idler needs a spacer or not so check belt alignment there if you get the brackets from a truck with A/C. You will need a slightly longer belt then the stock Vortec application because of the larger alternator case. If you want to upgrade your cooling fan, use the plastic fan from a 99 or 2000 on a TBI clutch. It pulls more air and it's quieter. Edit: I see that you have an electric fan.

Look up part #764-30705 from painless and read the instructions. You need a resistor inline with your wiring.

The newer alts are so much better that the old 1 wire. I believe they are 140-160 amps but the main benefit is when it starts making full amps on the 1 wire it’s up rather high in the rpm range where the newer style makes full amps almost right off idle. Huge benefit if you have a lot of power draw

At the minimum it will put out 100 amps, you may want to consider upgrading the gage of wire running from the back of the alternator down to the starter.

with no 5v 128hz pwm on L pin its defaulted to 13.7 and it will do that with just the wire to the battery and nothing on the 2 pins

It wouldn't charge. The regulator needs a constant source to refer to. The signal wire is necessary

Who else cringed when he tossed the impact on the air cleaner lol. At work we have a stack of old bath towels we use to cover fenders and shiney stuff so we don't scratch it. The towels are cheap and easy to wash if they get dirty. Better then the rubber "fender blankets".

alternatorparts.com/. They have everything! You don't want to use the DR44, if the diodes go bad you have to replace the back cover. You need a AD244, the diodes are on a separate plate.

You realize you can clock the back independently from the front on GM alternators? Well, you can turn it in 1/4 turn increments, one from the other.

The alternator will only output amperage as needed. And the newer style salts are much more efficient, more stable output at idle, and basically better in every way. I seriously doubt the parasitic loss is half as much as the unit he is replacing.

No. Not even. It is a demand based system. The only burden is the heavier alternator.
