at 46': "Shame is an important emotion. A person who does not experience healthy shame does not have the ability to limit the self." I question this. Are you saying that without shame, we'd run all over other people? How is it not enough instead, to be aware of other people as equals, and how what we want to do might affect them? It seems to me this accomplishes the same purpose of having consideration for others, without the implication that we need to "limit our self" because somehow our self is "bad" and by itself would not consider others. I think this implication goes against the notion of inherent worth, and therefore it's counterproductive to recovery. I'm curious, what's your response to this?
