Important note, the description says that prior to the lvl 13 upgrade, if you manage to break the shield, Fire Spin is cancelled, so I think Umbreon might be a good counter to that move in particular.

@@Druid-T Most of its moves are cancelable and it's weaker than Charizard's Unite Move in every way It does not proc Razor Claw, doesn't come with Unite Buffs, cannot crit and lacks the ability to instantly remove a DPS from the fight on use

I wanna say im not too worried. As a defender ho oh doesnt have many stuns and it can get stunned out of all of its moves except fire spin i think? So alot of that hp recovery isnt gonna be an issue in alot of big fights... but thats all hypothetical. My biggest fear for ho oh is the unite move. That thing better have a 134 second cool down or something.

Regenerator not considering wild pokemon as in-combat is an awesome thing cause it means regen is a dead passive, but its also EX privilege since it doesn't seem to be a universal change, the float stone you had didn't come back when regen did, you have to be in regular out of combat

Goodra already is unkillable and it's quite bad. Doesn't provide much, if anything, to the team The unite move better be worth it if this thing is to take the valuable EX spot

​@@RamzaBeoulvesWell it does actually do stuff for the team Fire spin causes you to absorb damage off of nearby allies, which means you can actually function as a front line that can't be bypassed Ho-oh also looks like their going to be very good at scouting ahead for their team during teamfights

The basic kit is just superior to Lapras. Similar idea with basic attacks restoring hp. Ever since the nerfs, Lapras needs a touch back up

I've never been so mixed on a release. Ho-Oh is my favorite legend of all time and it's kit looks so fun... but its a ex mon so you can never play it an it'll be super broken.

My first impression is that the fly flamethrower build looks a lot like greedent where it's suler mobilenand super tanky, but doesn't do much damage. Fire spin looks like the one that is most likely to need nerfs, that damage seems insane. Hopefully it's balanced out a bit by the fact that before the upgrade the explosion gets cancelled if the shield breaks

EX pokemon have overtuned stats, so the advice to use items to enhance it's strong points doesn't apply as well. I want to try full damage tank. Trevenants curse with a shield + Chars ult, but better and a reg move with healing AND slowing effects. A curse bangle + attack weight as the first two + -Exp share might be the smart move since you only need level 9 and have OP stats. -Razor claw could be broken by alternating between using flamethrower for a second, using the boosted attack, and back to flamethrower with a 1 second cooldown. Muscle might work well with that over curse bangle. -Weakness could work if it has a big attack stat -Scope lens could be a sleeper too if it adds crit chance to flamethrower or fire spin. I hate that EX pokemon have overtuned stats because Ho-oh seems like it has a lot of playstyle option that all seem cool... Ah well. Time to once again spam the new EX pokemon to make Niantic give it a love tap nerf when it has a 60% winrate. At least this one will be more interesting to use than HOLD A = WIN.

Goodra gets burst healing which means they're going to be more resistant to stuff that rips through defenders before the regen can be noticable, namely stuff like Gardevoir, Dragapult, and Garchomp but I also see the similarities with the extremely heavy recovery.

Yeah I agree, with fire spin this thing does feel more like a defender what with the absorbing damage off of nearby allies, but fly is just kinda weird yeah? Then sky attack and flamethrower also don't really feel like defender tools, more like something you would see on an all rounder

HP(listed in level order): 3,400/3,631/3,886/4,166/4,473/4,812/5,184/5,594/6,046/6,544/7,093/7,697/8,362/9,094/9,900. Overall it starts below average for Defenders, but rises very quickly, even competing with Blissey towards the end. It's a similar story with defenses (though I am not writing those out, ElChico has posted them if you want to see for yourself), so a lot of Ho-oh survivability comes from its crazy HP Regen

I leave the tree, but he is not forgotten. His curse powers are still in Ho-oh with an added shield. Also Ho-oh taking Chars ult as a regular move with a healing and slowing effect added as a double bird to everyone.
