Hope everyone is having a good week and still enjoying the SPR weekly’s. Two things here. Mercedes obviously dont watch your channel. If they did, there wouldn't have been an issue with the Mirror warranty. They should be bending over backwards to support specialist workshops like yourselves. Secondly the brake pipe issue is on the owner. Matt (High Peak) says it, you've said it. Dont defer maintenance. Especially when its your brakes!. It's narcissistic to blame you for something the owner knew was an issue. I digress... In both cases its about respect for who you are and what you do. Your integrity remains intact and that is why your business is successful. Terrific video as always. Thanks for sharing 🙏

Most car manufacturers are robbing bleeders when it comes to spares but Mercedes really have perfected it.
@michaelbacon5613 ай бұрын
Mercedes are "robbing bleeders" full stop. Its quality went down the U-bend by its own instigation years ago yet it still expects to be owed a living: proven poorer build quality and reliability but it still holds itself out as a quality brand and still charges excessive prices for the car itself, spares and main dealer servicing.
@Abbo8883 ай бұрын
@michaelbacon561 Yes, it's clear from some of SPR Auto's vids that beneath the shiny bodywork the quality is little or no better than many mainstream manufacturers. It's a triumph of marketing that people still perceive them as "higher quality".

Thank you for your honesty and very good information about everything that passes and of course Mercedes. The brake line issue is very recognizable. With my 25 years of experience in the car business. I wouldn't want to put my family in this car in this condition. The owner should think, what is more important? Money or security? If an accident occurs in this state, indirectly through brake line(s), the owner will have a major legal problem. Record it properly on your invoice and always have it signed. Greetings, have a nice day, Wim from the Netherlands

It just seems like a big waste of everyone's time like you said. The truth is, Mercedes is the one that's going to be hurt the most from their own policies. Time is money and them trying to nickle and dime a MIRROR REPLACEMENT(Not even an engine or transmission), tells me that they are desperate for some reason. Thanks for your reply! Back in the day, I loved driving behind the 3-pointed star - and M-B UK told me that I was the very first British client to make a factory collection. This was *before* the UK was in the EU, and customs paperwork had to be stamped at every border, on the drive home. (Germany to Belgium to France to UK !!). Once you'd arrived at the factory, they'd put you on the tour bus... while your car was brought into the handover hall (a massive place)... Then, a M-B product specialist (wearing white gloves - no kidding!) would explain every function of your car to you. It was a very special way to pick up a car... and the car was almost run-in by the time you'd driven back to Blighty. You and your team clearly care about the work you do, and your clients, and the content you make is very honest & enjoyable to watch. All the best - keep it coming & stay busy.

I have just fitted a new Bosch turn signal module from MB (made in Malaysia, so that's suspect straight away) to my W108, within 80 miles of driving it failed, intermittent fault, the indicator lights / hazard blinks as normal operation or just a continuous illumination. The part that I replaced only because the threaded plunger that attaches to the button in the cabin had broken, nevertheless functions correctly. I am having to go through the same process, take the car in to MB and probably pay a diagnostic fee. It goes in next week, watch this space.

About not replacing brake pipes especially Flexi brake pipes that are corroded or sweating, they will work fine under normal driving conditions, BUT but but, in an emergency, the driver can apply up to 10 times the pressure on the brakes, that is when the brakes fail, and you hit the car in front or worse, the child that runs out without looking. Other safety tip, always use your day time running lights, they may not improve your visibility. But, it makes your car very visible to other drivers. A 10 second vision gain of oncoming car can mean the difference between life and death. Lights today L C D lights are NOT veavy consumers of battery power, unlike the Halagon lights of yesteryear.

I often wonder whether Mercedes-Benz views this channel and learns from the frequent lack of parts availability, the extortionate cost of parts (when they are available), and the corrosion problems with their cars. I run 3 Mercs, an A Class, B Class, both about 12 years old and a 300SL-24, which is 32 years old and my experience mirrors that of SPR. As more and more private buyers refuse to purchase electric vehicles, I suspect running older Mercs will continue for the foreseeable future. It would, therefore, be interesting to discover Mercedes-Benz's policy for the continued supply of parts for non-EV cars.

Mercedes cons customers, had a 1996 C280 back in 2007 with wiring issues,biodegradable parts i found they used many years later & saw it on a car video too. Over £2,500 for these wires all in....no chance!! Sold it & got a Toyota,never looked back. Brilliant cars Toyota. Never buy a Merc again after seeing many videos over the years.

What does the add blue do? Is it as well as having a fuel tank? 🤔

How long does an adblue tank last? So much for the environment.
