Luke Reed yea so I’m proud to be one of the original skate boarders. My first deck was made from my sisters metal roller skates. Way before neoprene, say 1964. Dan &=Dean’s “ Sidewalk Surfing” surfing (written with Brian Wilson aka Beach Boys) was my first 45 rpm record. Sorry for the nostalgia.

That's an awesome story, nostalgia included. Those first board were gnarly, but this is one case where I'm glad "they don't make em like they used to" lol.

Is that really the Mod Podge finish? Looks amazing!
@lukereed34154 жыл бұрын
Thank you, its the real deal except these cans contained a matte finish, so I went over the top with the gloss finish (the finish was hand rubbed also of course).

Luke I have one more question how do you get your rings and other stuff so shiny? Do you use multiple coats if lacquer or you do something else?
@lukereed34155 жыл бұрын
Yes, multiple coats of finish with sanding in between. Gotta build up that finish, as they say 😀

Turned out awesome, but for the thin strips you just clapped a smooth board for a fence? I'm fairly new to woodworking and I've seen a few thin cutting jigs and wondered why do what you just did but curious do you think theres any danger for that small of a cut getting caught between the fence and blade?
@lukereed34155 жыл бұрын
Some might call it an auxiliary or sacrificial fence. Maybe not necessary, but I didn't feel comfortable setting the fence that close to the blade. Some of the pieces did get caught between the fence and blade, but they are so small and light I felt they didn't pose any real danger. There are definitely other and probably better ways to rip super thin strips that I've learned since, but this seemed to do the trick. Thank you!

Hey.. just a quick question about your rings do you use wood glue or super glue....thanks..
@lukereed34155 жыл бұрын
Ive used both but usually super glue. Its just so much faster.
