So I attempted this twice yesterday! Came out decent for first try. Only issue I'm having is the plastic when I lay it over and pull it up is not pulling up enough of the paint and I have to go over Alot, that and I'm getting pooling of the paints on the canvas. Is there a specific amount of time u should leave the bag down for or specific type of bag used?
@JonBarberArt2 жыл бұрын
Hi The Physique Mechanic, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question, I really appreciate it :) Glad to hear that your first paintings turned out decent :) If the paint is pooling then you are putting to much paint down in that area, try using less paint that way you won't get any pooling, also if there is too much paint down and you go and make the texture with plastic and rub it light you will only pull a bit of the paint back up and the more you do the texture in one spot the more chance of the paint mixing all together, but by using less paint you should be able to make better texture with just one pull :) hope this makes sense and helps you out :)

Amazing job man! turned out amazing. Ive just tried to recreate this on my own and I ran into a few problems that I was hoping u could help me out with. When I was doing the first black coat which u did at 3:40 I ended up not getting much of the black paint off. I did a few things different then you and I was wondering if maybe those had to do with it. First thing is that I used newspaper instead of a plastic sheet, does the plastic sheet make the difference? I also used a heat resistant black spray paint for grills as that was all I had available. Please lmk if theree is anything I can do to fix this. Thanks.
@JonBarberArt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kryptoknight, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words, the comment, feedback, and the questions I really do appreciate it :) Okay, the first one i'll answer is the black not coming off very well :) To get a good texture the paint still has to be wet, before you do the texture, if you didn't get much texture on the painting the paint may have dried a little to much which means it won't produce much texture, to get better texture just make sure the paint is wet before placing the material over it :) Newspaper will work for texture, Just make sure the paints wet before placing it on, also with newspaper and magazine paper if the paint is to dry and you do the texture it can stick to the painting and rip when you pull it back off, I have never tried heat resistant paint so not sure if it may be that, that is coursing the paint not to texture, it may be that it drys to fast, I would suggest getting a different black not a heat resistant one and see if it works better :) hope you find this helpful and let me know how you get on :)

Hi Jester, Sorry for the late response, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) The thing i used for the texture was a large bag that i cut up so its easier to use, I got them from a old workplace, they were throwing loads in a skip so i took them, i don't know anything about them apart from them being a large plastic bag or where i would get any more from if i wanted too, sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

@JonBarberArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tammy, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment and question I really appreciate it :) It's all about how much paint you put down before pulling some off , the more you put on the more chance it will blend and mix, If you are having problems with the paint blending try using less paint to see if it stops the blending, hope this helps :)

@@JonBarberArt You're very welcome sir. I've been watching your "how to" video because I've always wanted to learn how to do this ever since I first discovered this type of art over 20 years ago. Can someone help me with the problem I’ve been having. When I remove my kids for the planets it’s leaving a thick ring around my planet and it does not look good. How do I get the clean circle around the planet? A thinner lid?

Hi Anthony, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment and question I really appreciate it :) There are a few ways to do this, you can use a lid with a thinner lip on it, or use less paint on the planet before adding the lid, or you can let it completely dry before adding the lids on the painting, hope this helps :) let me know how you get on Anthony :)

I don’t understand how you’re able to cake that much paint on top of each other without bleeding to other areas. And whenever I swipe the entries canvas to create texture like that it’s always obvious where I swiped because if it’s not hidden under the planet the texture shows up on the background where I don’t want it. It’s all black. But still at certain angles it’s noticeable

Hi 1954Bentley, For the planets i'm using food tub lids which are round , for the texture i'm using a bag that i have cut up but you could use newspaper, magazine paper etc, for the big star i used a paint scraper , and for the small white stars i used a food tub with a hole in the bottom, hope this helps :)
