Watching you go up and down the ladder with what I call the 'hopper' sure brings back memories. I did a privacy fence with an over hang on my side. I used the rebar and lathing to make the arch. As small as my 'hopper' was it was heavy, I was grateful it wasn't any bigger of a bowl! I did frequent up an downs! Shortly after that is when I tried the burlap. Fun, hard, solid work! You're giving me that itch again. 🤔Oh? Wondering. Did you ground your pod? 🤔 Thanks for the video posting! 🤠

Ok Harry....we gotta build a "movable", arched, ladder track, around the domes! Also...stucco sprayer too heavy for me. That has to go on track too, with much larger bucket. Everything is about the circle and preparation for the job at hand! Certainly taking the time to accommodate a diy track would save all of us a tremendous amount of labor and time! I can't wait to come see you and your wife at a class .... my brain is bursting with ideas and I have so much to learn from y'all!

Toni, think you are on to something there. Especially for larger /taller domes. You could roll bend metal conduit into a curve that fits around and near the top edge of the foundation and bolt it down. Maybe find a couple ladders that fold and could be modified by adding pully type wheels that fit the conduit and join the ladders together to form an upside down U shape that goes over the dome and can circle around. Something like that would be real useful. Maybe Aircrete Harry can create a visual prototype in blender as a talking point.

@@edwinbickel we're on the same page! I'm having the same visions. Could be made adjustable to fit size of dome. Maybe when the ring is poured it could be extended out from the foundation ring, like a little sidewalk around the dome to accommodate the track! Might incorporate a center pole too. The plastic could be sealed around it for inflating and the pole cold be removed later. Hole could be sealed or used for ventilation!

DIY tracks would be a bit too complex to make - having in mind different size Domes / you would need different size tracks. @@AircreteHarry I was just thinking a single track (round conduit) around and near the edge of the foundation. But it could be a manual move as well. Ladder out of aluminum in the shape of an upside down U. Look at the beginning of how this ladder is set up to get the idea. Another excellent video Harry! Your texture is rough (Exactly like my sand/cement mix that I spray for top strength) When I am shooting my finish coats I add type s hydrated lime (3 parts portland cement, 1 part type s lime, and 9 parts sand)... This can be troweled smooth and then wet floated for a beautiful finish...

Looking at your work flow i would get a second ladder and plartform set the bin on the platform mix on the platform dip n spray walking from bin to roof section far reduced walking up n down the ladders

The whole carrying the bags up high would not be what I personally would do (unless there is a machinery that can lift them all up, - sure) The platforms / ladders all around, absolutely. What I'm pointing out here is that one would not need to spend more than needed. If you can afford it to have a wider set-up I encoure that, too. 👍 👍

When I see how easily you can make high-quality domes at low cost, I'm inspired to give it a try myself. Have no land and have no idea how to start. Think I want to save up money to buy a big plot of land. Then the process of applying for permits begins. Here in Norway there are strict regulations to follow. But it is something I would like to start doing.

Could you combine that stucco sprayer with your pneumatic cement pump to get a longer lasting pour for spraying the domes?

@@antoniosanford4675 If you tried to pump the thick stucco it would take quite alot of air pressure and when you ran out of the mix the hose would whip violently shooting concrete out rapidly and injuring anyone within 10 feet... People have died trying this very thing....

I think that would work!!! Something like spray on stucco. Having a constant supply of wet mix would be the next challenge. A bigger 'tow behind' mixer might keep up with the demand for a good stream or flow. I think you'd run out of wet mix fast! But what a hoot, that would do it a lot faster and thicker! ( not necessarily thicker is better in this application in my opinion.) Of course out in the middle of know where, power would be a need to run a full blown cement mixer and pump power for your hose. With some good solar units, it can be done. Gas is pricy at this writing, but able. I do like the idea though. I could get into trouble with that Cool thinking! 😇 🤠

You are right, those small sprayers are slow.... I have been using them for years and I also have a small concrete pump/spray rig - The small sprayers are the way to go if you are working by yourself but a pump/spray setup can apply at least ten times as much material... If you use a handheld hopper then you need to use at least a 7hp compressor and 3/8" air line and fittings. Keep a full 55gal plastic water barrel (With the top cut off) to dunk the sprayer in to keep it clean while you're mixing the next batch....

This is one of the options man. There are many ways to do it successfully & this one simply shows that people don't need expensite machinery / tools to make it happen. If different applicators are on hand or one can afford to buy them, sure 👍
