I’m glad you’re making these videos. I’ve learned a lot. My older relatives and friends in their 60’s & 70’s who raised cattle all their lives have learned a lot as well. All farms aren’t the same and it’s good to share the information.

Zach, big time thanks for giving me an outlet for my childhood dreams ( in the 60's!) of farming. Favorite times were going to Grandpa's farm near Radcliffe, Iowa ( where you've at least driven by! ) You were my first exposure to youtube farming videos and not to inflate your ego too much but after watching all of yours and then expanding to some others you stand at the top of the heap... and certainly have been an inspiration for other videographers. Glad you've been able to include your family, your Dad and Jim also. So very thankful for all that you farmers do to keep this great country (at least in my opinion!!!) fed. Always look forward to seeing what's happening on the farm. Glad to be able to glimpse what goes into the family farm. Keep them coming.... as long as your family comes first!! We don't mind if you need to take a break every once in a while. ...not too long...!

I grew up on a farm in SE Iowa, working for many of the area farmers. The tractors were generally Farmall H & M, John Deere A, B, & G and an Allis Chalmers with a couple of Fords. The farming of today is so different. I drove by many a farm & wanted to pull in & ask the farmer if I could spend a day with him. Thanks to You Tube I get to spend many days with many farmers in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania & Saskatchewan. I love it.

Yeah it's pretty bad and over-reliance on it caused an explosion in increasingly herbicide resistant weeds which makes them have to use more and more of it, eventually they're completely resistant and even other combinations of chemicals don't work.

I think it’s also to remember that level of exposure is important when dealing with chemicals. So let’s say you are using a garden sprayer and you mix up 5 gallons of spray. If you mix double the concentration of chemical your exposure is double for that batch when you spray it. So stick to the ratio recommended by the chemical manufacturer.

@@guidofarage7457 When you're monocropping you kinda have to spray something but unlike conventional herbicides, some farmers literally spray closer to harvest when the plant's seeds, fruit, cub or whatever is developing. With conventional herbicides they sprayed earlier on and the chemical didn't get on the edible portion as they hadn't yet developed. As the plant matured it created enough shade to prevent weeds.

in the US do you have to do test to used different types of spray applications? in the UK there is 6 different courses depending on what u wanna do. PA1 is the theory of safety and laws which u have todo then PA2 though PA6 is the application types like boom sprayer of knap sack.
@larsharris3 жыл бұрын
Kinda. It depends on chemical, what you are using it for, if you are hired…. So this is simplified. Not legal… If you want to spray your sidewalk, around buildings, on your property. You can buy many premixed chemicals at hardware, garden, even lumber retailers. You don’t need any permit. BUT you are responsible to follow instructions. (Many do not even skim them) If you want certain chemicals, and/or want to apply those chemicals to OTHER peoples property. (Or for hire) you must take, pass permits. I am not up on what each level is.

Some questions. What is the total acreage sprayed? (With Roundup/Glyphosate) Total Roundup/Glyphosate used per spraying season? Although it is, as you try to convey, very little you are spraying, it is extremely effective (toxin does not have to be used/applied in great quantities to be effective). As such, what happens to the Roundup/Glyphosate that is applied tot the crop? (Seeing as it would be very inefficient and costly to try and apply it ONLY to the weeds it must be applied to all the acres...) Does it just fall off and disappear?

Decrease the motor pulley size to slow it down. Or you can increase the shaft pulley size but it will be tight inside that cover. Other potential option is to speed up the other motor by replacing the pulleys opposite of what I said before, but with increased speed you will draw more amperage so that may not be possible with the current motor.
@reno48193 жыл бұрын
Hey Zack for the conveyor that is too slow for the bin auger, would a quick fix be to change the size of the pulleys on either the conveyor or the auger (either end) as appropriate? Then the problem would go away for good. Cheers!
